    It could have been so good, but it wasn't stable on my system, and the outbound connections annoyed me. Plus it had a weird picture resizing bug. So no WPS Office for me.

    For next 24 hours, you can get WPS Office 10 Business with a 1 year license at Giveaway of the Day.

    The business version doesn't have the limitations of the free version. There is a comparison of both editions at the WPS website.

    Not so slim as it was in the past. 381 MB once installed is too much for me, in this scenario I prefer Libreoffice.
    Softmaker Free office (135MB installed) is the slimmest solution if someone need only a basic free office

    It's the phoning home that bothers me. If I'm correct, Libre Office doesn't do this.

    Yes, Libreoffice is a trusted company and no phone home, Kingsoft is not.
    WPS has several processes trying to phone home and you need a firewall to block this behaviour.

    New version for Linux available, 11.1.0.9080, http://linux.wps.com/. Tried .deb on Kubuntu 18.04 and it keeps crashing and restarting. Tried flatpak version and it didn't crash but I couldn't change the default font.

    BTW, .deb comes with real and US English, flatpak just has US English. For real English, or any other language, you have to copy the language file to the WPS flatpak folder in var/lib/.

    Using onlyoffice desktop editors for now. Slow but simple. You can't change default template font but it uses arial 11, which I prefer. Also, default spelling is US English, so you have to chose your preferred language for every new doc. Real beauty of it is that is has tabs from each app in the same window - tabs are a mixture of docx, pptx, xlsx.

    Just to report I've tried 11.1.9080 again and it's working now without crashing and restarting. It's also got the same functionality as Onlyoffice in that there is only window with file tabs irrespective of the format.

    I tried WPS office a couple of years ago, and did not like it. Decided to try the new 2019 version, with real (US) English as opposed to British English LOL. Much improved. I still like LibreOffice but the latest version of WPS is nice.

    I have once again switched to WPS Office, seems like the GUI has been improved. I wanted to make use of Libre Office but after reinstall it couldn't load because of some missing DLL, I really don't have the time for this nonsense. Of course, all phoning home from WPS is blocked.
