it does , you have to uncheck "automatically allow by parent process" (in Advanced tab), because IDM isn't listed in Web App; it is clearly mentioned to uncheck it.

then VS will be toggled "ON" and IDM highlighted in Web Apps (see screenshot).

Yeah, what SHvFl said (thank you SHvFl), and I just wanted to add that most users will never need to use the Custom Folders feature. But if for example, you have a Downloads folder on your D drive, you might want to customize that folder so that it is scanned / blocked every time. You can almost think of it as a GUI version of the .ini files used in similar apps... it just makes it so that everything is totally customization. We can actually add tons of different "right click" options to this at some point, for example, if you right click on one of the folders, a menu will pop up and you can choose whether to scan and auto allow the file if it is clean, or block and not scan at all, etc. Thank you!

Cool, thank you for the suggestions, I will add these to the to do list. Another user also suggested a few other columns that we are going to add as well, like the VoodooAi score and 3 or so others.

Thank you Piter... yeah, I know what you are talking about, this can actually be caused by a few different things, especially if you have an old snapshot.dat file in the C:\ProgramData\VoodooShield directory... basically it is just cleaning up the whitelist. There are a couple of other things that can cause this as well, but I forget what they are, but they are similar to the first one I mentioned. If it happens for longer than a minute the first time you run VS, please let me know and I will look at it. I noticed this issue about a year ago and did what I could do to fix it, but from what I remember, it was as good as I could get it. After first run, it should not do that anymore, if it does, please let me know!

Yeah, exactly ;). There are 3-4 things VS has to do on first run that slows it down. Thank you TH!

Hmmm, this still happens after VS has ran once? Ohhh, I just thought of something... can you ping google? If not, that might be the issue. Please let me know!

I am not sure what happened with that. I have been meaning to email Dan and Joel anyway, so when I do, I will be sure to ask. Thank you!

Yeah, basically what guest said (thank you guest)... you might be able to add whatever folder is used as the downloads folder for Internet Download Manager to Custom Folders. Thank you!

Pleased to report that 329 has been running faultlessly for a while now (mainly in AutoPilot mode) and recently just using Ai with blacklist scans disabled. Also not noticed any freeze reports from others in this thread recently so here's hoping that the issue is more or less fixed.

Like many others, I am really looking forward to see the results of the Malwaretips video challenge. I am sure that will be the start of a much higher profile for VS and it will be great to see VS give some of the big boys a run for their money!

    maybe a bug:

    - in "Custom Folders" , when activated, in the "OFF" column, non-system partitions (D, E, F, etc...) can't be selected , the error message said they are root folders, only the folders inside them can be selected.

    HI Dan,

I know how to protect my system using VS without someone learning me. The problem is mostly related for the free version of the program! That is my point!

    Best Regards,

    Plamen!

So be more precise, how people can know if you don't gives details to reproduce it properly...

    HI.
Tested free version of VS on real machine win 10 pro x64.
Without any other security soft.Sumo was a first soft and no reaction in whiitelistening mode. Then i choose stop installation of sumo and after that VS blocked some command line. After that i decide to install another program( langOver 5.0.9)and again no reaction of VS.

I think in the free program should be unchecked allow by parent process.Nothing less, nothing more!

Very cool, thank you for letting me know! Yeah, I am still waiting to hear from several users on whether disabling VoodooAi fixes their freeze issue or not. It is certainly either VoodooAi or the long command lines that is causing the issue, and once we know more, it should be easy to fix... Assuming that the issue still exists ;).

Yeah, I am excited to see the results as well. It turns out, I think we made the rules a little too "tough", so we might need to modify them a little. For example, a lot of users believe that 500-1000 samples is too much for a minimum. I totally understand... testing and making videos can take quite a bit of time. It can also be frustrating because while testing, they might discover (like I did on several occasions) that there might be a better way to do something, and have to start over (like I did on several occasions ;)).

Thank you Plamen! So VS was probably just cleaning up the old whitelist, which can take some time.

Cool, thank you... yeah, we should probably disable the Parent Process feature by default, then if the Pro users want to enable this feature, they can.

Unfortunately, not the case here. I've had a few freezes with the same config as yours that locks the machine completely. Only a reboot resolves the issue.
