This feature works differently now. Instead of replacing your user agent with some hardcoded string we strip all unusual elements from your original user agent, leaving browser type, version and OS.

When I used Adguard for windows I experienced an important CPU and I/O consumption, even more than an AV. Is this still the case?

@avatar Minor suggestion: When using anything other than a mouse (particularly trackpad, for example), I often have some difficulty clicking on the vertical scroll bar within each tab of the Adguard user interface. Recently, some programs have had a very similar thin style scroll bar, but when hovering the cursor over top, the scroll bar would temporarily get wider making it easier to click, until the cursor moves away. Moving the cursor away, of course, the scroll bar goes thin style again.

Then get rid of that false notification: "We always replace your User-Agent with a generic one".

Good to see the devs are active in this thread. :)

I've had a go on the Android version and didn't think it was doing too much, right up until the trial ran out and I uninstalled it. Then I suddenly noticed just how many ads it had been blocking! I'm now looking to get at least 3 lifetime licenses for Android (4 if it supports Android TV?) but funds are tight right now and I'm struggling to justify the cost. That said, there appears to be a rolling offer on StackSocial for a 2+2 device Premium lifetime license. It seems super cheap, even though I don't really have a need for the Windows version, but is it legit?

i actually would like an option for the main window to stay in the center of the screen
if i run a program with a different resolution, the next time i open the main adguard windows it moves to the upper left so i had to drag it back to the center again, until my screen resolution changed next time

well i drag it back to the center and close main window. it seems to save but on next reboot it goes back to the top left
only way to fix is uninstall/reinstall until it happens next time

    Hello

I'm a new user of AGW and find it brilliant at removing ads but for some reason I cannot get it to block any pop up windows in IE 11 or Chrome.

If I go to "http://www.popupcheck.com/advanced-pop-up-test.asp" and run the "Popup Blocker Performance Capacity Test" - with Chrome's popup blocker is turned OFF - I get a score of 0/100. However,if I turn it ON I get 80/100. This implies that Chrome is filtering pop ups and Adguard is not. I've done the same test with the Chrome Adguard extension and I get the same results.

I've tested this on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 and the results are the same on both. I'm using the latest non-beta version of AGW and all features are enabled, except for Stealth and Parental Control.

As a comparative test, I installed Admuncher and it managed a score of 40/100 with Chrome's popup blocker turned off, so something is definitely amiss with Adguard.

Any ideas what's going on, guys?

Have you ticked the WFP (Windows Filtering platform) checkbox in settings - general? you'll need to tick it if you haven't, then re-start your system.

I only have access to my Win 8 PC at the moment. WFP was already enabled, but did a reboot anyway. Ran tests again and same results :(

I tested this site as well: http://www.popuptest.com/ and it failed all those tests as well.

I tried using the Adguard chrome extension instead and got the same results as the desktop program. Interestingly, if I install Ublock Origin, it also fails to stop the popups on popupcheck.com (doesn't seem to be able to block about:blank popups) but it does block the popups on popuptest.com.

    Regards

Within the Adguard GUI in the Extensions section, ensure that extensions are enabled and that Adguard Popup Blocker extension is enabled, since that is what does the code injection on each site to prevent popups. Can you confirm if that is enabled?

Thanks for your suggestion, but, yes, they are all enabled.

I actually logged this with adguard support and they referred me to this posting on the XDA forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67669166&postcount=1465

So apparently adguard is only designed to block 'real' popups and not fake ones! I'm not convinced and feel weary to rely on adguard to do it's stuff when the time comes. I would really like to test a site that generates proper popups before I will be convinced it's effective.

FYI, the OS X Safari page is outdated, unless the one in the extension gallery isn't the right one.

@avatar I've got a question and this might be something specific to these latest beta releases. My statistics for Adguard is showing 10,461 for Blocked ads, but showing 0 for Blocked trackers. In previous releases, I've always become accustomed to seeing almost a more even number between blocked ads and blocked trackers. Is this a known issue specific to these recent beta releases?

    Nope, I can't confirm it.

We use a very simple approach to distinguish trackers from ads. If request is blocked by Spyware filter, EasyPrivacy or Fanboys enhanced tracking list we count it as tracker. Otherwise it is considered an ad.
