Now that I've had a good look at this software, I'm quite interested in the Pro version... Just the power and ease of use it gives me is quite evident.

Can be annoying at times, but how else are you going to babysit your computer? Yeah I could upgrade Windows, but I clearly remember AppLocker/SRP being far more of a chore.

I'm not seeing the USB Shield where it shows the USB on the VS Shield? Can Anyone else confirm?

    TIA,

    Daniel

TH, I remember not seeing that but I worked out that if I had a web app open when I connected the USB device the USB didn't show on the shield. If I plugged the USB device in without any web app open the USB does show on the shield.

    Cheers.

Hi, VS, I simply wanted to inform that I have some terrible problems with the latest Windows 10 insider so much that I need to reinstall everything from scrtch since my Windows cannot even load at all, I have also major problems with hard disk, which seems to be a merchandise with errors, so I need to replace it with new hard disk in order to work anything at all, it will take at least one month or even more so in order to fix all these issue, I also have to save personal files and documents before I go into everything, I didn't think I will have so much problems, so in order to send you email for a license request will take some time, because my systems and hard disk are simply screwed, I didn't know how to spell it otherwise.
I'm sending this from my laptop, and not from my computer.

So, please forgive me for not ending you email, just yet, it will take much more tim than I actually thought.

    VS, big thanks in advance.

Could you give me your link to your opinion about UAC, if you don't mind, VS?
    Every info is welcome.

    @Triple Helix,

On my PC's it working well! That is the USB on the VS Shield!
    Windows 10 X 64 Bits O.S. Did you uninstall and/or reinstall
VS? Remember to restart your computer each time.

The only problem, I have is that Windows Updates is stuck on
2 of my PC's. I wish, I could get this to work right again.:(

    Hi Bald Rick,

Oh. I don't currently have VS installed at the moment because I'm beta testing another program but that's how I remember it worked here.

Thanks Krusty that has explained a lot. I had been wondering why I had not seen the USB logo show up in the shield when I inserted an external drive and now I know. Usually I am running Firefox and VS is already on and protecting the PC.

I have just done my weekly backups and imaging and for this I exit FF and TB. VS (in Smart mode) toggles to Off. When I insert my external drive it toggles back to On and the USB logo appears. All is working as it should! :)

Sure, Krusty13...thanks for the clarification...still not seeing what I would expect but I am sure that Dan, when back, will figure it out if there is a bug there.

    Hi Baldrick

Reading the User Guide again, it says under basic settings:

"Activate in smart mode when USB drive is inserted: When enabled, VoodooShield will automatically
toggle to ON when a USB drive is inserted."

So we have to be using it in Smart or Always On mode to activate it. This seems to tie in with my recent experience.

Indeed, Cache...thanks for the clarification...but I am running in Always On mode, without a browser being open but plugging in a USB key DOES NOT activate the USB Shield...so I am confirming what Daniel is seeing.

I'm stating the obvious here Baldrick but if you can confirm that you have the check mark against the relevant Basic Setting, then it does indeed look like a bug. I am using v3.28 so it may be something that has changed in the latest version.

The quotation I gave in #11041 from the User Guide was actually from my Basic Settings tab in v3.28. The User Guide (v3.0) in fact says :

"Activate in smart mode when USB drive is inserted: When enabled, VoodooShield will automatically
toggle to ON when a USB drive is inserted."

So it looks as though Dan has made some changes here in the recent past.

    Regards, Cache

Well if you have your browser open and are in Always On mode, then you won't see any change when you insert a USB drive as VS is already on and protecting your system.

on mine in smart mode, insert usb and shield turns blue. with browser open in smart mode, insert usb and since browser already activated vs, stays blue.
in always on mode, there is no change. stays blue because already active.

No Browser open and no email client open and in smart mode then I load a USB stick the shield goes from RED to BLUE with USB showing! Now shouldn't it show anytime when a USB is installed? Also now that the Browser is open to post this the USB is still showing on the VS Shield.

    After reading the above:
    * the "USB" can only be seen if the USB-stick is inserted before a webapp is started (and "USB" stays after starting the webapp).
    * But if you start a webapp and then insert the USB-stick "USB" isn't shown
    * And it never shows if VS is in "Always On"
    :cautious:

Like my question here: "Now shouldn't it show anytime when a USB is installed?"

Yes, it should show USB anytime.
But maybe it's not intended to show it anytime :doubt:
Only If the USB-stick is inserted first (the USB-stick initiated the protection) = "USB" is shown
Or if all webapps are closed (while the USB-stick is inserted) = "USB" is shown too

i get what you are saying now and agree it should not matter if a web app is open or not even though protection is on and blue. it should maybe show anytime you insert the usb stick :thumb:

It should as it's called USB Protection and it has nothing to do what Webapps. 2016-07-03_17-42-29.png in which I run in Smart Mode but it doesn't say anything about Autopilot.......for users that do.

Well I'm sure Dan will explain the reasoning behind all of this when he returns.
