    StevenG,

Thanks. I'd seen and tried that link in the past and had no success. I don't want to use Win98. It was just a challenge to add it to my multi-boot of WinXP, Vista, Win7, Win8, Win10, Linux, DOS, FreeDOS, etc.

Back on the subject of scheduling hourly incrementals. Last night as a test I schedule 3 incrmentals using the new private beta at 15 minute intervals. They all ran perfectly. Even restored as they should

Are they saying we need to create this key as I do not have it.
    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\macrium\reflect\Settings

The SETTINGS key is there... you need to create, under settings, the following DWORD item...

    Item: DeleteNetworkConnection
    Type: DWORD
    Value: 1

That is what I meant. I see settings but did not realize we needed to create the key.
Do we even need this if we do not use Macrium to connect to the network?

No. If you don't use network storage (NAS) requiring authentication, you DO NOT need to add this item. It's for people who use NASes to store their images and wanted the device to disconnect from the system as soon as the backup was complete. This provided less exposure for the external device in relation to CryptoLocker type virii.

There won't be any comparison. 1st is reliablility, 2nd with flashback you break the tracking file and you have a full image time, Macrium with this new feature just rolls back to it's standard incremental which in itself was very fast.

apaert, nothing really changes except the speed of the periodic images (incrementals) and the size will be a bit smaller... which will make the RDR restore just a tad faster.

No miracles here... just a solid approach to tracked imaging.

I would like to explore an image from a different pc - basically just to rescue some files. This image was taken a month ago and from memory the file was on the desktop. When I now try to access the image I can see the folder structure in the directory but accessing the "old" desktop runs into the following error message: You don't have currently have permission to access this folder" . Clicking continue tells me denied and suggests the security tab. How would I configure this to get to the desktop folder in my old image? I am a bit reluctant to actually restore the image since the "new" pc is working nicely and just accessing the one folder via explorer seems much preferable.

    beethoven,

Try this. Copy the image to a new folder, say D:\beethoven

From an Admin command prompt enter these lines, pressing Enter after each line.

    takeown /f "D:\beethoven" /r
    icacls "D:\beethoven" /grant users:F /t

Can you now explore the image?

The 'Changed Block Tracker' has been mentioned a few posts back, this is the first time I had heard of this feature and checked the Macrium documentation to see how to enable this.
The help file states that the driver has to be enabled from the program 'file' menu. I have the very latest version installed and do not see this on my system.
Has anyone successfully installed this feature and if so could you be kind enough to detail how you were able to do this.

I imagine the file menu option is available either only in the beta, or perhaps in the Macrium Driver Tools utility itself. No doubt others will clarify.

Thanks for the help file heads up - the mention of continuous incrementals is intriguing.

Yes, on more detailed reading it looks as if it is installed via the Macrium Driver Tools Utlity.
To be honest, prior to reading the last few post's, I had never heard of this utility. I cannot find any source for a download on Macrium's site either.

Gjbth, it's been offered only as part of the PRIVATE BETA work going on with Macrium (see your PMs)... there is NO public BETA as of yet (and may not be, knowing Macrium).

One feature I'd like to on macrium is the option to mount an image.

Under the RESTORE TAB, <select> the image and <click> on the "Browse" option found to your RIGHT.
