No, it does not upload whole file, cause it would be impossible with large files. It checks some other file characteristics like digital signature/md5 and then compares it with our database.

ZAM will still be able to scan and clean, but will stop real-time.
Most likely there will be a new beta, within 15days, that will start the trial period again.

@anon It's quite common for untilities from WinZip/Systweak (WinZip's utilities are rebranded versions of Systweak's products) to be detected as PUPs.

 

I know, but I want a confirmation from ZAM.

@anon That's actually not true. Their software does include any malware. Also, the term fake is highly misleading, because while the software usually won't work as well as advertised, if you buy a license it will be fully functional, and will remove the junk files and registry errors if finds, and install the driver updates it finds.

It can understand it being detected as a PUP, but there really is no valid reason to detect it as anything more than that.

Eset detects as PUP too, so I'm afraid that it isnt a false positive.

 

But is just that, a PUP, not a "FakeOptimizer."

 

Ok then, a fake optimizer PUP bundled with some malware installers........
