I don't think they ever will remove detection of it, despite the international version being safe. However, I'm not going let that stop from using PC Manager.

The Chinese version allegedly installs a GPU miner, but it did not when I installed it. So perhaps at some point in the past it did, but longer does. I have no idea.

Because the Chinese and international versions use the same digital signature, although they are targeting the Chinese version, the international version gets detected too.

It's a hassle as I have to rememver to uninstall Zemana are running a scan with it, so that a customer won't end up accidently removing PC Manager with it.

How u even can think to install it on costumers pcs when u know the companie put cpu miner an other crap into the Chinese Version. Its not the Int Version i know but realy? Its the same companie. I would never touch something like this myself for costumers. Thats a no-go.

Is there a strong evidence, that the miner was bundled by Tencent,
or came the malicious versions from third party downloads?

Tencent didn't install miner, Tencent came along with miner and few more malwares in this malware downloader.

So why not flag the malware downloader and the malicious downloads, instead of Tencent PC-Manager, which is a legit AV.

It's extremly light, and the detection rate is very good. It alerts you when a new version has been released, and it takes just one click for it to download and then install the new vesion in the background.

Because there is no paid version, there are no ads or popups trying to get you to pay to upgrade to a paid version. Also they do not advertise any of thier other products.

On the other hand, to use AVG as an example since it's very popular. Not only does it try to get you to upgrade to the paid version, you have to manually download and install new versions. I regularly see AVG installed on customers computers and almost always they are running a version that is between one and a few years old, rather than the 2106 version.

Himm, then how they make money?

Guys, as we said before we come across many droppers signed by this vendor that hijack system so as @NWOAbschaum pointed out we can not trust any file signed by this vendor nor you should be.

You think that in English version it does not include crap, but it often call home and take commands, and the next command may be very harmful for you.

Long story short: We can not whitelist them, if you want to use them together you must exclude them in ZAM.

I'm surprised you would even need to ask that.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tencent

With earnings that high, it understandable that they can afford to only offer a free antivirus.

Are you going to ask the same questions about Qihoo 360 TS/TSE, or Baidu Antivirus, considering they both publish only free antiviruses.

It seems that you know very little about Tencent.

Maybe not. But, you missed my point. Qihoo offers its antivirus products for free, and does not install anything extra or advertise any other software. So, if Tencent is going to be questioned about how they can offer a free antivirus, then it seems logical to assume that they should receive the exact same questions.

I'm not saying definitely that Tencent is safe, but, I prefer to base my opinions on actual documented evidence that it doing something bad rather than speculation that it may do something harmful. If I was overly concerned about speculation, I wouldn't be using Windows 10. But because I'm not, I continue to upgrade compters to Windows 10 every week.

@roger_m , do you know if there are any malware/droppers that are signed by Qihoo?

Emre, stated the following, do you think it's mere speculation?

With earnings that high, they shouldn't be pushing their product through malware channels, but in legal ways. That being said, when they stop pushing their products through malware channels, then we will remove detection. Until that happens, you can always exclude products signed by Tencent in Zemana settings.

I can understand your decision to detect it. But if the following is true, it does not make sense that you would remove detection.
I still believe that PC Manager is safe, as I have not seen any actual evidence to suggest otherwise.

True, but I find it easier to just uninstall Zemana after running a scan. That way I can be 100% certain that PC Manager will never be detected and removed.
