Paragon Hard Disk Manager 15 Pro.

I backed up pc via VHD image.

    I am testing recovery methods.

I can successfully create both USB and CD boot for recovery. The issue:
I cannot seem to be able to boot from either option AND plug in another USB flash drive (or an external USB hard drive) and have the recovery "see" the flash/hard drive.

I can only see the locally installed hard drive (which doesn't do much good if you need to read the images elsewhere).

And you can't easily create a bootable flash drive that's also partitioned without buying some other stuff, but either way, I'm puzzled as to why the WinPE is capable of booting from a Flash drive, but not reading/seeing another Flash drive, nor seeing a USB hard drive as well.

Is it a driver issue? BIOS is set for USB 3.0 to legacy mode. I can boot from USB 2.0 device, but it won't see another USB 2.0 device inserted into another USB slot.

I use HDM15S not the Pro version and have no problem seeing the the flash drive, etc. created with Paragon Boot Media Builder on an old BIOS system as well. Did you use the BMB or use some other process? Are you using a USB 3.0 port and is it on the mother board or external port? An external USB 3.0 port needs Windows ADK not AIK for built in support when creating an recovery flash drive or DVD/CD.

I used the PMB to create the recovery media. All ports are USB 3.0 ports, but the BIOS is set to allow "legacy" mode. These are motherboard connected ports, not via a hub. Obviously it can see/boot from the USB 3.0 port (USB 2.0 flash drive) and can access the boot device, but if you plug in another flash drive to another USB port, it is not seen within the Recovery media (ie, you can go to load drivers, etc. and none of them will see the newly inserted flash drive.) They all show the local hard disk partitions, the CD-ROM drive, and the bootable flash drive, but that's it. Not even an external USB HDD is seen either.

Anything plugged in after you boot the recovery media won't be seen till you click on "Reload Disk Info" as it only see what's plugged in at boot up.
