I did not know you could do this TH but that is a great help. When you say "the same", I assume you mean the same product as in AV, ISP, ISC etc.

There is currently a great offer for three devices using AV until 6 June on newegg here.

 

I may be mistaken, but I believe that you can't "stack" those 3 licenses on one machine. In other words, you can't use all three back-to-back on the same machine. And, again, I may be mistaken, but once you start one of the licenses, they all start based upon that date. (I'm sure that TH will correct me if I'm mistaken.)

 

Correct! And it's best for ISP and Complete then if you use the Password Manager and or Back Up & Sync then it will not mess them up when you enter a new keycode! So in this case when you contact support after purchase ask them to put them together to make it a 3 year 3 PC's and or Mac's 1 license even if you have a current keycode you can ask to add the time from the 3 to it, just make sure to add all the keycodes and tell them what you want.

True in a sense but when you contact support they can add the time on top of each other so you end up with 1 keycode good for 3 years and it's starts counting down on the first install so it's best to have 3 PC's ready!

Got the 78 update.

 

What is the latest status of the new web filter with production releases? I left WSA last year as I had numerous browsing/speed issues with the existing web filter and the new one never seemed to come out of beta. I would love to come back but from what I see at a glance it is still in beta. Thanks

 

They always have Beta's as you know they are small program updates and I haven't seen any issues for quite a long time.

 

But currently is the stable production release using the new or old web filter technology?

 

My personal experience is that, whereas there were big FP problems a year ago, webpage FP blocks are now all but nonexistent. Neither am I encountering web browsing speed issues on my machines though of course mileage may or may not vary on this latter point.

Whilst it is true that I am using beta version, we Beta users have had information from pretty high up in the development team that:

• "The driver" (which is the only important thing that differentiates the Beta Version Web Filter from the Consumer Version Web Filter) "mainly protects you, when no browser extension is available or installed for your browser. So you can see it as a kind of fall back." And therefore...
• "...with only the Browser Extensions", i.e. without the Beta Version driver, "the browsing experience should be similar positive."

In other words, on the Consumer Version you should be getting roughly the same highly stable browsing experience as us Beta users are.

There is one more observation made by this same developer that should be added here:

• "In case of Microsoft Edge we are still waiting for browser extension support. Nevertheless we provide protection with the driver in the meantime"...and as a result..."we have enabled the driver for Consumers on Win 10 and for Edge only"

Finally should you, by any unlikely chance, encounter any unforeseen issues, there is now a proper protocol for disabling either the webpage block feature or the website safety ratings (the green ticks to the left of the Google results) and that is to go to Advanced Settings—Firewall / Web Shield, and to untick the relevant entries under "Activate browser extensions". It is important to only disable those features this way, as to disable the Web Filter Extension altogether would also disable the Anti-Phishing Shield: not a good idea

Thanks, some of this I remember now from when I last looked at this last year. Will still prefer to wait for it to come out of beta.....if it ever does. Good to know the FPs and browsing slow downs are in the past now as that was an issue for me.

 

IMO the FPs are very much a thing of the past. Browsing slowdowns are not an issue for me personally but I hesitate to make a blanket statement. From what I understand from the developer, the beta driver is not a critical component, at least not at the moment.

Does the driver work for search engines other than Google, Yahoo and Bing? I ask because the web filter extension only works with these three as far as I am aware.

 

No search annotations, but if you came across a bad website using another search engine it will be blocked by the Web Filter when trying to open the Website.

 

Thanks TH. So we are fully protected when using alternative search engines, we just don't get the search annotations. That sounds good to me.

 

Question: When using the "System Analyzer" tool in WSA, does it seem inaccurate to you?

I currently used the System Analyzer tool and this is what it gives me...

• I have 16 GB of RAM, with everything in Windows tweaked for performance, WSA reports - "There is a low amount of physical RAM available on your PC."

I've seen numerous reports of the System Analyzer having issues for people, just wondering if you experience the same?

 

Yes I just take it with a grain of salt and really I don't use it.
