We were unable to reproduce memory leak. Only couple of users reported this, so it is probably something on their side. On my machine, usage is pretty stable around 40k.

We will continue to monitor this of course.

 

@ TwInHE -- Thanks very much for looking into this. ZAM seems to be O.K., now that I've updated to the newest stable version.

 

Since the latest MSE engine update (Engine Version: 1.1.12804.0), the MSE scanning engine spikes to 80-100% of CPU and freezes the computer when opening any folder containing either of the last two versions of the ZAM Portable exe. On a manual scan the files are clean, and the signatures are valid. I believe this is an MSE problem but thought that the Zemana devs should be aware of it.

(Old Pentium dual-core W7HP 64-bit laptop, fully updated, 3 GB RAM.)

UPDATE: MSE has today updated its engine to Engine Version: 1.1.12805.0 and the problem is now resolved.

I dont get the point of flash deals, you blink and you miss it.

Anyone who was too slow, now will hold back and just wait for the next deal. I probably would have brought a couple at 50% off, oh well, lost revenue for them.

Can the update files found in 'C:\Users\.......\AppData\Local\Zemana\Zemana AntiMalware' be automatically cleaned/removed in the future ?

I clear them out manually so don`t know if there`s some limit on how many are stored, if there even is a limit ?!

(Beta .911 working OK here without any obvious issues)

Windows 10 Pro x64 (Version 1511 Build 10586.318 ) & ZAM Portable (C>User>AppData>Local>Zemana>Tracer)

 

Installed Zemama again and it quarantines Heidmal agent . exe.
Why?
I did notice Heidmal was trying to update from version 2.2.2 to 2.2.3
I think this is why I uninstalled it last time, Same thing happened when Heidmal tried to update

 

@TwinHeadedEagle Are you able to give any insight into why ZAM continues to detect the antivirus Tencent PC Manager?

 

Tencent PC Maneger is a pup. Its adwarelike and hard to fully remove. ZAM is just right to flag it as a thread. u can find plently article about Tencent PC Manager.

 

@NWOAbschaum I've installed it on many computers and it is most definitely not adware, unlike many free antiviruses which advertise their paid versions. I'm never had any trouble uninstalling it.

This is for portable version, you won't be seeing it with setup version. Anyway, files in this folder are not something you should worry about. They contain Zemana logs for various operations.

Heimdal doesn't have digital signature and if you activated Pandora technology this could happen with new versions. Let me know if you still have this detection.

Tencent is pushed by malware downloaders, it is considered as a PUP, scareware and there are many more reasons for it to be detected.

I doubt this assessment is true for Tencent Antivirus.
Maybe other Tencent Apps are dubious....

In my opinion Tencent Antivirus is a slim and effective AV, with no nags.

 

Maybe the Chinese version is, but I'm not so sure about the English version. There is no good reason to consider it is scareware as it is a legitiamte antivirus and does not ask you to pay for anything.

Nobody said that it's a matter of worrying. It's a matter of cleaning (remnants from the previous version).

I was initially referring to the update files, for example:

C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Zemana\Zemana AntiMalware\update_{C37753FF-D451-4EC0-BCD0-6DF749C0F2F2}.exe

each of which are ~5 MB

I had not taken into account the tracer files at the time of asking originally but if they just build up over time without ever being cleared out, they must surely also be a candidate for removal when necessary as @anon pointed out ?

 

All of these files are here for a reason. Thy serve as a logging system of Zemana activities helping us fix bugs and errors in Zemana usage. Portable version is specific and that's why it has these update files. I will pass these suggestions to devs, but IMO several megabytes are not worth several hours of coding and testing new version.
