I upgraded my legit Win8.1 to Win10, and I was thinking about trying the insider preview builds. Will I get a watermark on the desktop when I have a legit copy and not just an evaluation?

Once you've upgraded, you're good. You can do the Insider builds, either fast or slow ring, and that process goes on and on in a never ending stream, with periodic official releases. They're all legit copies. It's up to you if and when you want to exit the insider program and return to normal builds.

Ok, I see. But as how I understand, there's a difference between legit Windows 10 and a legit evaluation copy. Evaluation copy in Insider goes on forever without expiring (as long as the Insider program is alive), but it's still not a valid copy you can revert back to production (as you didn't upgrade an older version or bought a license key). And you get a watermark because of it. Me however has upgraded a bought license to Windows 10. If I go Insider, with a Windows 10 that has a license key, will I also get the very same watermark? I find watermarks tacky, and it makes me rethink trying out preview builds.

Edit: It seems after some searching that you cannot escape watermark in Insider, regardless. Thanks!

Yes, and windows 10 Pro will cost $199.
And microsoft can remove every feature they want with an update (which is forced for the pro version) so one will have to buy the upgrade to the enterprize version.
    e.g.
You can no longer block windows store in windows 10 pro :isay:
Can't disable Windows Store in Windows 10 Pro through Group Policy

It's funny how big companies conclude failures. By ignoring them.
Instead of going and saying yes, we screwed up, it's all vague corporate PC language.
You never improve that way. Shock therapy is best therapy.

You always get the watermark as long as you are joined to the insider program, yes. But I do have a machine that was registered as insider that I was able to remove from the program and return to the release build. Of course the next time there was an insider build I loaded it again. :argh:

I took the plunge two days and upgraded to win 10 64 bit. I lasted about 48 hours and that was it for me. I uninstalled a lot of garbage in it and spent hours doing that including Edge and other junk. Even my desktop picture was distorted, and viewing videos in HD looked like they were in cam mode. Top it all off it came preinstalled with Macomedia Flash and had one heck of a time getting rid of that sucker in SysWOW64 and System 32. In the end I finally gave up and went back to Win 7 64bit and here is where I will stay. As long as there is Sandboxie available and SD there shouldn't be a problem in 7 even after the expiration date. To tell you the truth I would go back to XP before I would try 10 again. I had a backup of Win 7 with Macrium Reflect and it worked great getting me back to Win7 and I'm glad to be back.

And even after support expiration date there will probably be another POSready trick that will enable you to receive updates.

@wolfrun It sounds like you needed to update your video driver.
