A dot release could be coming soon due to this, and other issues with Fx 46:

Bug 1245277 - pocket and loop .enabled preferences can no longer be set via distribution.ini/autoconf/esr/etc

Hello and Pocket disabled via CCleaner....don't know what to do about Multi-process.
I thought > Multi-process Firefox is not enabled in version 46 Stable. #

They are using a system addon to control the state of e10s so that they can adjust client exposure without updating the browser. System addons update independently. Mozilla can instruct clients to change an existing system addon, remove an existing system addon, and probably even install a new system addon, whenever Mozilla wants to.

Does CCleaner support a resident component that can reliably detect/disable system addons before they take effect ?

According to the schedule shown here it is disabled in the 46 release build:

Multiprocess is not yet available on the (46) release channel.
Regardless of CCleaner reporting > Yes | Extension | Multi-process staged rollout.

Yes, you can see that the feature is "off" there. Can it be enabled in the v46 release channel build or is it necessary to download the "nightly" build?

    Well, removed e10srollout@mozilla.org.xpi and...

Test 1) Portable app, offline, clean profile. Created browser.tabs.remote.force-enable = true (hidden pref that is checked for) and restarted. Multiprocess Windows: 1/1 (Enabled by user).

Test 2) Portable app, offline, clean profile. Set browser.tabs.remote.autostart = true and restarted. Multiprocess Windows: 0/1 (Enabled by user).

Test 3) Portable app, offline, clean profile. I mimicked the steps that the 46.0 shipped e10srollout system addon would do if a threshold were set and met. Multiprocess Windows: 0/1 (Enabled by default).

Note from Wiki: To verify that it is active, go to about:support and look for a number higher than 0 in "Multiprocess Windows".

I'm not sure how much would be working under the hood, but given the above results I'm thinking that Mozilla would have to make the system addon use force-enable or do some other kind of pref juggling I don't appreciate at this point.

Could change, but for reference right now checkout that XPI on you system or https://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-release/source/browser/extensions/e10srollout/bootstrap.js

If you really want to test e10s, I think nightly/developer would be the way to go.

    @TheWindBringeth @JRViejo

I stumbled across this 3rd party app called WinMerge which can compare two files for differences.
I made a backup of current FF prefs.js, then upgraded to 46.0.1. I ran FF once, closed it then dragged both files into WinMerge window.

It's a nice small app that will make about:config tweakers sleep easier... hehe

EDIT: There is an issue with the 64bit shell extension injection; it doesn't work... lol apart from that, she's a nice catch!

Cool. As a reminder to passersby:

    https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Preferences/A_brief_guide_to_Mozilla_preferences
Since different versions can have different pref names and/or default values, you'll sometimes want to compare more than prefs.js.

I thought NoSquint was no longer maintained. Worked in FF46, stopped in FF47. So, I trialed NoSquintPlus. Now, I'm trialing ZoomPage.
I didn't see Add-ons notice pointing to signature and xpinstall.signatures.required is in my FF47

I can't take this anymore, I really don't understand why FF hasn't got a tab-based bookmarks manager, like in Opera 12 and Vivaldi. Is there an extension that can solve this problem? The current bookmarks manager is a complete joke, I can't believe nobody is complaining about this.

I just hope they will give an option to disable it when it's released officially.

I've had Multi-process staged Disabled. Any reason to Enable Multi-process staged rollout in FF47.

Hmmm...I think i'll backup my profile to be on the safe side before updating to 47, I have add-on signing disabled as I manually download uBlockOrigin updates from github, plus the so called system add-ons via CCleaner, so we'll see how this plays out :ninja:
