Sometimes you want to post a screenshot of your settings in a program.
It is some time ago that we had a general thread about those utilities and what you prefer to use. I found this old thread from 2007 (maybe there are more recent ones) https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/good-screen-capture-utility.162560/

So, what is nowadays your preferred Screen Capture Utility, and on which OS version, and 32-bit or 64-bit?
Please give also the link to the site of that program, tell us whether it is free or not, does it come with nagware that you want to avoid, well any info you want to share and is allowed.

I usually just use Alt + PrtSc, which captures only the current Window, paste the screenshot into MS Paint, and then save it. I use Microsoft's Snipping Tool, when I only want to capture part of a Window.

In the past I have used TNT Screen Capture, which is free.

It's very powerful and does a lot more than simply take screenshots.

I have Snagit 12 on Win 7, but to be honest I don't like it that much. The much older versions I liked more. But that's just me. Maybe I am going to look for a more simple one, and I don't need any extra features like you can upload your screenshot to site X or Y. It must be me, I guess.
