I did update today to the latest Avast version. The intention was to get the safezone browser, but none is seen on my W7 system. I did the update in my SUA account.

Safezone browser comes with a fresh install of avast (2253), sometimes after one hour you will see an new icon on your dekstop.
    I already delete this safezonebrowser.

I got it finally. It took more than one hour. In fact I did check for program update also in admin account, so not sure if it helped.
Something like uBlock Origin, does it work with SafeZone browser? Also can it be succesfully EMET mitigated?

Hardened Mode: Does someone know if the whitelist information is lost even if I enabled the persistent cache in the Realtime shield?

Its weird, files seems to be scanned again by the engine.

    Interesting move from avast.
Not only will users have chrome waved in front of them, they now have another browser being installed without permission lol.:argh:

Avast is getting filled with useless things that we don't need..the deepscreen thing in this version isn't even on par with detecting malware. They need to get their game up other av's are doing well in that place otherwise.

Every company has their ups and downs, but still good results.

I second that, I would rather install the old mp3 player Avast than the latest version ...

Agree totally. Yesterday, Avast upgraded and lo and behold, up popped SafeZone. Had to read some threads to figure out how to change the new default settings. Not the best upgrade I've ever gone through and until I did figure out how to get rid of the browser and the password manager, I was not happy. End result? It all works now, but I had to jump around a bit to get it to where I wanted it.

avast! has seriously changed in a negative way.

It's getting way too bloated and it's just no longer the AV it once was.

I just wish avast! would go back to it's roots and actually provide an AV without all the unnecessary extras.

Going back to its roots was wonderful.

That's why I gave up my three paid licenses in 2013.

That's why I quit using it. It was once a great AV, now.... something else altogether. Totally agree with your comments above.

Version 5 was a superb av,
But when version 6 was released there seemed to be a radical change of design and outlook and this was clear in their forum.

Actually I loved version 4, and did not like the new user inteface introduced in v5.

Out of curiosity I have just read some part (the first 3 pages and the last page) of the above thread on Avast forum, usually I would not comment on a product that I have not used for some time. I remember Vlk had started a thread last year asking people to give comments/advices on how Avast should be improved on this forum --- https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/avast-please-share-your-opinion.378539

It's sad to see things turn out as it is now. Avast was a top-notch Free AV last decade when I used it.

Is RejZoR banned from this forum ?

They say improvements are in the pipeline, current focus is on improving detections and overall performance impact on the PC ( disk space, ram usage, web browsing speed and faster computer startup)

About Rejzor so i hear yes he is ......
