yes, when you add the executable manually or via its icon on the predefined list.

maybe my partitions are placed differently than usual people.

    Is Shadow Defender running?
Is Rollback RX Pro "protecting" D: ?
I'm not using Rollback, but if i look at these files it installs, i see several device drivers.
"Shield virtual disk driver", "Shield file system filter",...
Maybe it interferes with AG, but i'm not sure.

Sorry, dropped the ball on this. It shouldn't be too difficult of a change.

Fortunately, AppGuard has you covered if you're clicking on a bad email attachment. Not sure I understand your edit - the goodie of which you speak, are you talking about the shortcut file?

Thanks! Have you tested whether normal operation is affected if these are added to the Guard List? What about if these are red-listed?

I added all the vulnerable processes recommended by NSA and IT security researchers to be either monitored or disabled without ill effect.

In other words, it didn't smash my system... because none of the processes are required for OS normal functioning; in some cases one or two might be required on an as-needed basis - but that represents no stability issue to the OS itself.

I had the .ink in mind. It's easy to get the average user to click on just about anything using social engineering. It's no different with torrent downloads that almost always contain multiple other files with the download. Torrents get removed from sites all the time after discovering they contain malicious files. It would be so easy to put a malicious .ink file in with a torrent download. Many users get infected using P2P applications.

I block many of the same vulnerable executables hjlbx does by adding them to the User-space, or at the very least I Guard them. It has never caused me any issues.

I seen somewhere on this thread where a member asked about a changelog for AG. I never did see an actual changelog for this soft. Is there not one?

Don't you supply with lifetime licence?

    No. License is now annual-only.

I checked the http://www.appguardus.com/ site and yes seems it is now annual.
For us "oldtimers" I think the current licence is lifetime for the current 4.3 version.
I think Barb_C mentioned something about AG 5 branch in her post maybe a month ago. Maybe that is what is sold now on the site? And not possible to get 4.3 licences anymore for new users?
I downloaded the 4.3.14.5 exe even though i updated it through the program update, to keep in safekeeping just in the case my old computer dies someday.

Once I already messed with my computer with fresh reinstall of it, but Blueridge support was very good in helping me get my licence back.
And I would pay for annual licence instead something for an AV instead when money is short. Appguard is good!

    That is very odd.
@Barb_C hey, how about start publishing a change log? I have a ton of softs that I havent updated regularly simply because for me and my setup it was unnecessary. It would be nice if we could see what changes were made so we could tell if updating was warranted. I think AG is the one singular soft I employ that I have never seen a change log for!

Yes my license is lifetime. But sadly no more LTL's are being sold.
I believe AG v5.xx is a Business solution not meant for the average Joe such as ourselves here in this nice forum.
@Jarmo P yes it is always good to have the latest installation files stored locally for your favorite/best softs. I disagree with you about buying softs every year tho, no matter how good or benificial they are. If I cant get a LTL for a soft I will not purchase it. There is no soft I cant live without and no soft (IMO) worth paying for on an annual basis.

Barb_C I just wanted to thank you for exploring that you tube exploit and showing that AppGuard does protect from this

Do I really need to run any other security software if I use AppGuard? I use AX64 also for my backup.

I would, don't put all your eggs in one basket so to speak. Some here use only Appguard and Voodoo Sheild and speak of highly of the protection afforded.

AppGuard with good adblocker - like Adguard - is quite safe combo under typical computing conditions.

    Keep your softs patched.

Of course, it depends upon whether or not you are downloading and installing a lot of unknown\untrusted files on a regular basis - disabling AppGuard to allow their execution.

Blue Ridge Networks recommendation is to continue to have anti-virus protection (FAQ #3).

    http://www.appguardus.com/index.php/appguard/faqs

As an alternative to anti-virus, containment by isolation also pairs well with AppGuard: e.g. Shadow Defender, Sandboxie, etc.
