Mozilla Firefox Browser Stable Version Releases

I just tried www.bharatbank.com. No problem this time. Worked as it should. I'm on Firefox 46 beta 8.

 

Have you confirmed that the date and time settings are correct? In Firefox advanced options do you have "Query OCSP responder servers to confirm the current validity of certificates" checked? (if so try unchecking it). You could also try using the HTTPS Everywhere extension.

 

If I click the link you posted for baharatbank Firefox cannot find the server, however if I click what looks like the identical URL vasa1 posted in message #951 Firefox can reach the site every time; weird!

By the way, I have OCSP enabled in Firefox advanced options. I also use the HTTPS Everywhere extension with all of the "observatory" features enabled (if that's makes any difference).

Yes, OCSP is On by default, though if OCSP fails(which also maybe possible because of an attack) it gives no notice and allows connection.
You can also set it to hard fail, but in that case you can't visit a secure site when the OCSP server is down.

Ah yes I missed that the site is TLS 1.1 and higher only.

Still no fix for its SSL errors.

Seriously, Mozilla needs to get on the ball with it.

I can't connect to Google or download extensions because Mozilla insists on protecting me from myself.

Other Mozilla-based browsers like Cyberfox don't throw up a bunch of nonsensical security errors.

Mozilla says to delete a corrupted cert8.db file and restart the browser. The errors persist.

If I was running Mozilla, I'd fire its staff and close its doors for producing subpar software.

 

The errors you're experiencing are not the norm; I don't see them. Something is different on your system and you need to track that down. Alternatively since you don't see the errors with Cyberfox why not stay with it and stop struggling with Firefox?

 

I do have Windows Family Safety installed but I'm not sure that's the issue nor do I have Avast or Esset software with https scanning feature installed.

Mozilla gives no info on how to fix its errors. I agree they're not the norm but its clearly not a system problem as only Mozilla gives a damn about security certificate acceptance.

 

By chance do you have a proxy set in Firefox advanced/network/connection options, or have it set to use default proxy settings with a proxy active in Control Panel/Internet Options/Connections/LAN settings?

Have you tried disabling IPv6 in Firefox?

I'm seeing the "SSL_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED_VERSION" at www.pbase.com at the login screen. Nothing changed in my config except FF v 45.

Yup. Other browsers don't have problems connecting to secure sites. And if you need to bypass the warning to get into the site by storing it as a permanent exception, FF's security protocol is a joke.

Yea, there is no option to add an exception with the "unsupported version". Someone somewhere said this was fixed in v46, have to wait and see. Site works fine using IE11.

Oh, very cool. PBase looks to have some problematic SSL connectivity. I think I will send this to the Pbase devs. Thanks.

 

I don't know if it will help or at all is connected, but I know Mozilla changed something related to this a while back so I thought it may be worth a try to fiddle around with these prefs on/off, I took a screenshot from the Privacy Settings add-on UI.



You can also go into about:config and change them there, or install the add-on and do it quicker.

Edit: Well, there indeed is something connected to these prefs and the errors that you guys are seeing. I just tested and the pbase login page results in an error for me too.

But if I set "security.ssl.require_safe_negotiation" to off, then the pbase login page (https://secure2.pbase.com/login) is loading fine, using Firefox 45.0.2.

 

45.0.2 hold off on this update win764bit using internal updater- update hung and i had to shutdown machine. booted up a little later, ran internal updater again, this time installed no problem. xp machine ran internal update, update hung like on w7, shut down machine. booted back up, click on firefox icon, popup states windows is searching for firefox.exe. i had to uninstall firefox and now when i tried to use slimjet and opera to download firefox i get error messg stating download failed. i'm going to try downloading installer to a flashdrive. i'm getting the firefox popup on this xp machine stating 45.0.2 is available for update. no way. just wanted to let everyone know to precede with caution. thanks

 

latest download available for xp is 43.0.somthing, to get the latest version you have to use the internal updater.

if you have updating issues on windows 7 check your security software preventing the update. this is not normal.
