Using 4TB Seagate Backup Plus with Windows 10, Windows 7 and Macs with El Capitan. Problem: Folder name changes made under Windows don't carry over to the Macs. 1. I transferred several folders from my Windows PC (some from my Win 7 PC and some from my Win 10 pc) over to the Seagate drive. All is well. 2. I switched my Seagate drive over to one of my Macs, and looked at the folders I transferred over from the PCs. All is well. 3. I switched the Seagate drive back over to one of my PCs and modified the folder names. All is still well. 4. I switched back to one of the Macs again (and then the other with no difference) and only some of the folders show up with the recently changed folder names. Other folders do show up with the original names. At least all of the folders do show up on the Macs. Clearly, all is now NOT well. 5. I switch back to the PCs (either one) and the folder names do show up with the changes I had earlier made. Wow. 6. Back on the Macs once again (either one) and the folders show up with only some of the folder names having been changed as was observed before. Ugh. 7. Once the names have been changed, how does Paragon NTFS for Mac even get hold of the original folder names? They must have been kept around somewhere in the NTFS file system, but why does the Mac OS find the original names (but only in some cases) and not the new file names as changed under Windows? Ok. Without "fixing" the problem, what if I mount the drive on a Mac and make changes to the folder names there so that they match what I earlier changed them to be under Windows? Guess I'll try that, but I'm suspicious. A proprietary copy of Paragon's NTFS for Mac came with the Seagate disk when I purchased it, but just to be sure, I purchased and installed Paragon's most recent NTFS for Mac 14, one copy for each of my Macs, and installed it, but to no avail. Of course it shouldn't have made a difference, as it only facilitates "writing" from the Mac OS. Macs already, even without the Paragon drivers, should be able to "read" from NTFS-formatted drives. Has anyone else out there had the same difficulties? Any solutions? Actually I should probably be out there in a Mac OS forum. Hmm...
Hi! Make sure you're safely ejecting your device from Windows. If issue remains, you have to create a support issue via MyParagon account, and provide fsdump file (http://kb_wp.paragon-software.com/article/33) of volume in a state when Windows shows “new” filename and NTFS for Mac shows “old” one, and sysdiagnose file ( http://kb_wp.paragon-software.com/article/40 ).
I installed NTFS for Mac OSX yesterday. It is not recognizing one of my NTFS drives. It works perfect on windows PC. Do I need any more setup? I have ejected this drive from windows pc in a proper way every time. Please help. Thanks!
