Yeah, I agree. You'd think this would open them up to some pretty good law suits at some point...

For some part I actually enjoy what Microsoft is doing. This will push more users to Linux.

Microsoft could be smarter, but aparently their management is a complete POS. They could gain Linux and Mac users if they did Windows 10 correctly.

They started off on their current "agenda" back when they did Win 8. It's been crazy at MS ever since... Strange thing though, I just read somewhere today that Windows is only about 10 percent of their revenues/business, so to some extent, they probably don't even have to care about it...

It's interesting that I only start to feel the slow update symptom around March/July last year.

Well, I think they have to, because most of their Office sales happen to Windows platforms. So if Windows doesn't work they won't sell Office that much, I guess. But they REALLY want people to go to Windows 10.

I think I read that most of their business was cloud and enterprise related. So they have to keep those customers happy. But yes, they obviously would like it if the whole world went with Win 10. :)

I think I remember the slow updates thing developing slowly. Each time I did a clean install over the past year or so, it would get worse. It must then have something to do with the number of updates is has to process(?). I don't know...

No. M$ is not held accountable monetarily, legally or morally. Just like 99%+ of corps in this modern world.

    Reading the article:

That sounds like extortion to me. "If you don't want Windows 10, just don't update your Windows 7/8. But remember that it will be vulnerable AF".

Or "If you want to keep your store's windows intact, just pay the mafia guy. If you don't want to pay the mafia guy, don't do it, but remember that we'll come back to break your windows" (no pun intended).

The problem with Microsoft's attitude is that some people JUST DONT WANT WINDOWS 10, and Microsoft is doing everything it can to push W10 to everybody. That includes not asking, forcing updates, and whatnot.

If really wish Microsoft would get sued FOR REAL. No settlement, no injustice, just good-old justice in favor of the people.

That's the next gen of ransomware that only infects Windows 10 users, sign our petition (anti-Win10/MS Practices) or you don't get your files back. JOKING but I almost wish it was real!

I'm not happy about the forced upgrades either. I love Windows 10 and have installed it on just about every Windows 7/8.x computer I've worked on, because it works so well. But, aside from the many users who want to stick with older versions, there are some computers on which Windows 10 has issues.

I think they would treat Gregg Keizer and his article with the same disdain.

I came across that thread after it got locked. I was shocked. A heated discussion is one thing, but this was a gong show. If the site owner had have been a signed up member he would have been banned (IMO) for his attitude and rudeness. The other wolves just acted on his lead. Even the moderators got into fueling it - wow, never seen that before. Credibility and reputation out the window. You have to wonder what message that sent to their members.

Installed MS Updates on two 7x64 machines last evening. I created a Macrium image before proceeding.

    I decided to install KB3139929.
I also accepted all others, except for two that I had previously hid, but they unhid themselves... KB2952664 & KB3035583.

    No optional updates were accepted.

I keep screenshot records of each month's proffered updates, with notations as to which ones I refused. Been doing that for about 6 months now, and it's helpful to me.

As per the last 3-4 Bork Tuesdays, once again my Chrome desktop icons all changed into blank, white page icons. I reinstall Chrome (takes less than one minute now) and the issue is fixed. One upside to reinstalling Chrome each month is that the browser does seem super refreshed and snappier.

Started looking for 'More information' on all the (non-recommended) optional updates.
On the second one, I already got this (see below). Now, why would anyone want to install that? :)

hiten, at the moment, I can't find anything nefarious about these 4 updates, however, I normally wait at least a week before installing any, waiting for other eagle eyes (media) to scour them.
