Of course they don't want to allow custom firmware on Routers. It keeps the government from placing backdoors in the OEM firmware. That will be bad news for many users here at Wilders.
Bad news for everyone who values security/privacy. Plus, it means consumers can be locked into firmware that creates other, more commercial, security/privacy issues.
Actually the reason they stated sounds legitimate to me, I just find it unlikely that people would screw around with transmission power to any significant degree.
Does this mean it is now illegal to put something like DD-WRT on your router? Or does it only apply to new routers? I'm confused.
Let's see how they actually implement this. It might be something simple such as not being able to just point it to the file and go, but it can still be done with a special procedure.
