IObit Malware Fighter 4 is totally unnecessary.

@Djigi Are you saying VoodooShield is enough on its own, without an antivirus? IMF 4 adds Bitdefender's scan engine, so it does not have the same terrible detection rate as previous versions had.

If your OS is Win 8.1/10 I think that Windows Defender is enough with VoodooShield .
Maybe this new version of Iobit MF is better (I doubt) but VoodooShield is very good.

@Djigi I don't use Windows Defender as it noticeably slows down my Windows 10 computer. This version is definitely a lot better than the previous ones as it is now an antivirus and is using Bitdefender's scan engine. I'm sure it won't perform as well as Bitdefender itself. But I like it as it is extremely light, and I don't notice any slowdowns on my old Core 2 Duo laptop.

Bitdefender's scan engine in addition to what other engines, if any? Gotta love Wilders and our fellow members' esoteric app choices that would otherwise elude the radar of viable alternatives.
Never mind the freebies that demonstratively score well appreciably over time via AV-Comparatives, et al. And with all due respect to @roger_m.... just curious. (IObit?)... ;)

p,s, Definitely a fan of your software removal recommendations in another post!

@Lagavulin16 It uses BD's engine along with their own (terrible) one. I like it because it is very light, and it is very easy to exclude files you don't want detected, without you having to manually do so.

I find most antiviruses to cause very noticable system slowdowns for time to time, or even all the time. But, with IMF I don't notice any slowdowns.

Good deal! Based on your previous posts, you don't seem to mind shuffling apps for the right combo. Hopefully the much anticipated english free version of Kaspersky will kick proverbial arse.

Dr. Web Security Space 11 and Zemana Antimalware Premium. This is a solid combination which I think I'll stick with for awhile on all my computers.

Since I haven't used ERP for quite a long time I can't tell the exact differences of both programs and how they compare to each other. With FAE you'll get a straight forward whitelist/blacklist. Also it can monitor DLL and JAR executions on the system. When using FAE however I wouldn't use the whitelist which is automatically created during the installation process because the whitelist is file based. Instead I would create a folder based whitelist. Otherwise opening the control list will be quite slow if you have thousands of files in there. It's also really light on the system.

    Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
    Standard User Account
User Account Control - max, with password

W10FC of SphinxSoftware basic, unregistered - I like as it asks for outbound connections.

MalwareBytes AntiExploit with shields for some routine apps - my keeper :).

Zemana Antimalware 2 beta resident, Pandora on - very light in any combinations :thumb:.

WinPatrol free - I like its Delayed Start option.

The setup doesn't lag at startup after removal of MalwareBytes AntiMalware.

I tried to install latest (8.2.0.4792) Comodo IS or FW several times. My PC refuses to work with it.:(

got hit by some ransonware, and I want even trying. Encrypted everything, even stuff on my Microsoft Cloud drive. Had to reimage.

    Now Windows Defender and Sandboxie.

It lacks System/Core application protection. Everything is permitted by default. That's why I don't use it.

Are similar programs better on this issue (eg. TinyWall or Windows Firewall Control)?

I think TinyWall is much better. Personal opinion of course. It denies every in or out connection by default. There are some exceptions that you can enable or disable:

You must manually choose what to be permitted.

Yes, everything is permitted by out-of-the-box settings in W10FC (SphinxSoftware). You'll have to make Default Zone as "Disable all" to make default deny.
