Perhaps they will, guest or perhaps they will indeed wait until W7 disappears (I doubt that). If you really feel strongly about this then head over to the Webroot forums, check out in the Feature Request pages as to whether the request has already been made and if so then support/kudo the request and if there is no request already in place then start one...I am sure that it will attract a lot of attention...and the Development Team very certainly keep an eye/review requests quite regularly. ;)

    Regards, Baldrick

Well we all have been asking since Windows 8 came out but they don't seem to want to: https://community.webroot.com/t5/Id...tions-fw-control-in-Win-8-Win-8-1/idi-p/60003 all I can suggest is join the Webroot Community and Kudo the Idea as the more Kudo's they will look at it more and there are only 17 Kudo's since 10-08-2013. Even though it says it's closed if many others Kudo it that will force them to look into it more!

    Thanks,

    Daniel

i dont think 2-3 more kudos will change anything...maybe if we put a big article on our forums blaming Webroot to be "lazy" about it and put users at risk by disallowing them to manage their connections... :p

I've been reading some horror stories involving ransomware. Does WSA protect against ransomware infection?

Webroot releases our 2016 Threat Brief

Key findings from the Webroot 2016 Threat Brief include:

    • Malware and potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) have become overwhelmingly polymorphic, with 97% of malware morphing to become unique to a specific endpoint device. By changing attributes to evade detection, polymorphic threats pose a major problem for traditional, signature-based security approaches, which often fail to discover singular variants.
    • Approximately 50 percent of Webroot users experienced a first contact with a zero-day phishing site, as compared to approximately 30 percent in 2014. This data indicates that zero-day phishing attacks are becoming the hacker’s choice for stealing identities.
    • Technology companies, including Google, Apple and Facebook, were targeted by more than twice as many phishing sites as financial institutions, such as PayPal, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America. These tech companies are targeted because the same login credentials are often used to access many other websites, resulting in multiple compromised accounts with each phishing victim.
    • 100,000 net new malicious IP addresses were created per day in 2015, a significant increase from the 2014 average of 85,000 a day indicating cybercriminals rely less on the same list of IPs, and are expanding to new IPs to avoid detection.
    • The U.S. continues to have the most malicious IP addresses of all countries. In 2015, it accounted for over 40 percent of all malicious IP addresses, a significant increase from 31 percent of malicious addresses in 2014. Top countries hosting 75 percent of malicious IPs include the U.S., China, Japan, Germany, and the UK.
    • As with malicious IP addresses, malicious URLs are largely hosted in the U.S. (30 percent), followed by China (11 percent). Furthermore, the U.S. is by far the largest host of phishing sites, with 56 percent of sites within its borders.
    • In the second half of 2015, 52 percent of new and updated apps were unwanted or malicious—a significant increase over the first half of 2014, when only 21 percent were unwanted or malicious.

Daniel, thanks for your reply. The thing is I've read that the latest ransomware incarnation ('Locky') is disguised as an email-attached Word document. I often receive Word documents via email that I have to review, so if any of those attachments contained Locky Ransomware I sure hope I can depend on WSA to block it before it can cause havoc!

    Cruise

Ps. I do create image backups on a daily basis but I still would like to believe that WSA will block any such infection.

AppGuard prevented wrSyncNameExt.dll from WRDdata\PGK from running through regsvr32.exe
File description indicates this is Webroot Backup & Sync Namespace Extension, though I don't use the Backup & Sync feature.
EDIT: Note it is the beta version 9.0.8.67

If you don't need Office Macro's for those documents, disable them, as they're depending on Macro functionality.

Faith runs thin waiting for Webroot Support. After reporting my WSA issue to Support. WSA Support acknowledged my issue. Support advised others reporting same. Support promised they're working on fix and will notify progress. After 30 days I inquired about my ticket. Support promised they're working on fix and will notify progress. Been three months nary a peep from Support.

It may run 'thin' for you but mine, and that of many others that I come into contact with, have a completely different experience with Webroot Support...the terms 'first class' comes to mind. And indeed they received the highest marks in a recent industry survey on Support.

That leads me to wonder as to why your experience is so different...now let me see, ummmmm? ;)

Does this mean the GUI has changed? If so, could someone post a screenshot?
