Just to be clear, I was referencing the actual apps list, not the power apps, to which I have not added either of those programs however, I'm appreciative of the opinions on the topic, so thank you for everyone's input

@Barb_C - could be specific to W8.1 Home.

New Beta (and possible release candidate): https://blueridge-engineering.s3.amazonaws.com/AppGuardSetup_4_3_13_1.exe

There isn't much new in this release:
    1. A broken link to a help page was fixed.
    2. Java apps in the C:\program files folder on x64 systems should be discovered and Guarded (for real this time).
    3. The GUI is now DPI-aware meaning that it should look much better on high-resolution screens.
We are having a release meeting tomorrow and barring any show-stopper bugs we will probably be releasing this version.

That's as far as the improvements go... LOL ?

At least for this release. Every product has room for improvement and you've all given us plenty of great ideas, but we want to make this release more generally available sooner than later as we have added some additional protections in this release. As you know, AppGuard's protection is rock solid and there are no bugs with the protection.

@Barb_C - I absolutely agree - there is no question regarding AppGuard's protections.

Security soft geeks are a demanding lot - but we mean well.

I can only imagine what some think about my posts. It probably comes across as abrasive - but in actuality that is not my intent.

Words on a screen don't convey the subtle tones of speach - and are easily mis-interpreted.

Thanks! With all the critical comments regarding the bugs found during the beta testing, I was developing a complex. Didn't mean to get too defensive. LOL. I was just interviewing a job candidate and we were talking about being good problem solvers (which I always claimed to be), but if you think about it, if you're a good problem solver, you'll always be the one that people come to with problems. So instead of stressing out about all of the problems that are there to solve, we should be celebrating them.

LOL... soft developers need extremely thick skin. :D

I know what it's like - being assailed from all sides.

    Hello,

Is there a reason Microsoft Edge is not guarded by default on Windows 10 since all of the other major browsers are? Are there any known issues adding the two Microsoft Edge processes manually ("C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe> and "C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge.exe")? I am running the latest AppGuard beta on Windows 10 and expected Microsoft Edge to be guarded by default...

I can confirm that this release finally fixes Java not being Guarded from C:\Program Files Folders.

Still using the latest stable releases of AG and ERP on my XP box.
It's running great for months and I haven't encountered any major problems
    .
I read most of the last few hundred messages of this thread and I read that BRN released a new beta version of AG.

Does this version run on XP ?

Using AG or ERP is a waste; XP is highly exploitable now, no fixes/patches anymore, so with a kernel exploit all your security softs will be doomed.

    4.3.13.1 - Bug
    • Add new Publisher to Publisher List on Guarded Apps tab
    • Change Level from -- to Install
    • Customary AppGuard alert that accompanies Level change from -- to Install does NOT appear:

      View attachment 251399
    • Select Apply
    • Select OK
    • Select Customize (reopen GUI)
    • Publisher reverted from Install back to --
If you attempt this repeatedly, the Publisher location within the list will move from top of list to bottom of list - and vice versa.

I still get POSready 2009 patches until april 2019, and the whole system is running in RAMdisk mode so I'm not worried about getting exploited. Last time I got bitten by malware was in 2008.

Still can't repeat this but will ask our QA department to see if they can. Just thought of something, could it be that the popup is behind the GUI?

Question for all of you AppGuard users: Have you ever found it necessary to change the memory read or memory write columns on the Guarded Apps tab? We initially included those settings when we first introduced Memory Guard because we weren't sure of the impact that Memory Guard might have on Guarded apps. To my knowledge no one has ever had to change these settings. I'd like to remove them from the GUI to simplify. Thoughts?

Personally, I haven't had to change them but I think they should remain there. Who knows when/where they'll become handy...

  20. @barb or possible place them in settings with a tab to toggle to access if needed to change them. This will clean up the GUI like you want, and allow adjustment if needed.

I agree with illumination. Move them to settings tab, but leave them so they can be changed if necessary. Also and don't laugh, they are kind of comforting to know Memory guard is at work.

I haven't had occasion to change them but removing them as an option might not be the best idea. Perhaps if you were to merge them into one option, MemProtect or just Memory (similar to the publisher area) or something like that... Cleans it up a bit, makes it a tad less complex and doesn't remove the ability to troubleshoot if ever needed along with making it more consistent? The memory protections are my favorite part of AG!

AppGuard restriction policies are enforced all the time - to include system boot.

However, let's see what @Barb_C will say.

@Moose World - you might have to re-post to get @barb-C's attention; this subforum is kinda chaotic - so it's easy for her to miss some questions.

Before a re-post, I'd wait at least for a few days.

I have never had to disable Memory protection - as it has never broken anything.

Watch, once you remove it, there will be a flurry of Memory Protection problems... LOL.
