You should not apply Application Lockdown to any random application. Especially not to archiving tools as they write executables to disk. These executables are not allowed to run if they originate from apps that have Application Lockdown applied.
    Do you have such config?

Since some mistakes are recurring, why not to make remarks or a sort of best practice??

For ex, you have to explain again in simple term the software radar idea, when is useful to take advantage of exclude-tab,...

Those things have already been mentioned 1001 times, but there are still forum members who think that "more is better" and add all random executables that they can find to HMPA, MBAE or EMET.

    i know...but clearly it's not enough

So, to counteract the recurring theme, maybe it's useful to repeat some idea...:isay:

I have PeaZip with Test template applied. (Since archivers have been shown exploitable - like WinRAR).

What template should I use ?

@erikloman @markloman Wouldn't it be a good idea to have some kind of FAQ on your website with an explanation of what kind of software you could add and under what template?

for the benefit of others, HMPA is now working on my laptop, I had to uninstall and reinstall avast (combined with using the latest beta) and all is good now.

Also I stopped protecting system processes (wuth EMET) on my windows 7 machine currently as well.
My laptop doesnt even have EMET installed, EMET on my windows 10 rig is just a shell, no apps protected.

I found another thread on here, which does prove svchost protection via EMET blocks live malware, however the same malware was also blocked via HMPA's process hollow protection which is good.

Hi Erik, let me know if you'd rather I pm'd you, or handle this a differently. But I recently paid for both HMP and HMPA, even while beta testing. After installing them both, HMP says I've reached my max installations, and won't install. HMPA is ok.

    Thanks!

Just a heads up that the latest stable release (11.0.0.6131) of Emsisoft EAM/EIS autoupdated today does not play nicely with HMPA. Even with exclusions system will not boot properly without HPMA being uninstalled. Looks like it affects everybody running this combination. No word yet from Emsisoft.

If you are referring to my post above I was talking about exclusions for HMPA processes/folder in Emsisoft.

I may have been, I remember reading some posts in this thread related to the exclusion option, and I assumed it was the exclusion option in HPMA been discussed.

    Sorry :)

My EAM updated this morning and required a restart. I have the latest HMPA beta. I noticed it did not reboot properly the first time, but I have not noticed any problems after a subsequent shutdown.
Is there a thread on the Emsisoft forum?
