Luckily, it looks more like a GUI glitch, I'm still getting Anti Leak and Firewall prompts.

from the boss at agnitum today in response to my query yesterday:

Wayne, our support service is working as usual. Probably someone has confused it with Store page that says the sales has been stopped. We have dedicated support staff working at Agnitum (not Yandex) to address all incoming quires. Yes, I confirm my words that we are going to fix serious issues and updates AV database until the end of the 2016.

And that is what I would expect from Agnitum. They were always good to their customers. I'm glad to see them honor that tradition of excellence, during their final months.

Thanks for contacting agnitum and getting some assurance. As far as the support though,I didn't confuse anything.I opened a ticket and asked whether ID BLOCK was limited to a number of characters/digits or is it unlimited. For example i can paste a 256 character password into IDBLOCK with out any errors popping up,but I don't know if its actually working or not.If you just fill the ID BLOCK box with digits ,it fills at about 25 so is that the limit or just the limit of the box?

i seem to recall trying it successfully with 255 chars cut & pasted. but that was a while ago. i'm running outpost firewall pro 9.3 at the moment with eset smart security, so i did not install web control & cannot test it now.

if you look at the email addresses on the bottom of the email i posted in #103, the first leads eventually to the popup form to submit a support call. you can try again.

the second leads directly to a 'how did we do' form you may want to fill out. you'll need the ticket number from the earlier call you logged. whoever handled your call may have been confused in the chaos of recent events.

agnitum have managed to extend the trade in to 17FEB16 to coincide with the activation deadline requirement, this was confirmed by their management.

    Hi, I have a question.

When Agnitum stops updating OFP, would OFP alert the user that it has not been updated for a long time? I think people who want to continue to use OFP will not want to see such kind of warnings.

    dunno.

you could try advanced settings, alerts, untick the boxes, then set update frequency to manual & leave it for a while & see what happens. or log a call with agnitum. let us know what you find out.

I have done this several days ago, but I found that OFP will still automatically and periodically update the "news".

there is a glitch that some people get that they still get the news thing even if they untick the appropriate notification in advanced settings. for some it takes several days. for others - there is a few threads on the support forum on some ways to get rid of it that you can search for. i reinstalled OPFW pro yesterday & it stopped news-ing me this afternoon today (it inflicted itself on me this a.m.). glitch has only been around for the last 5 or 6 years :) i gather it's a low priority annoyance they have not as yet had time to fix.

p.s. - the news update is NOT part of the normal scheduled updates. it phones home separately. even on 'manual' for the other updates.

No, it won't. Outpost has never warned of out of date program versions, but it will notify you of an expired license. The products will continue to function after the license expiration, but it will nag you to renew, from time to time. Obviously not an issue if your license is lifetime. AV also loses signature updates after license expiration.
