Well deserved, especially Kaspersky.

 

A BIG Thumbs up to Kaspersky.

 

Kaspersky is the best AV you can get right now, but i can really recommend to change a few settings.

Avast has to improve in Proactive and phishing protection.

Its a shame Trend scored so bad since most firms rely on it for protection.

Also Avasts Free Business software just got 1 million users since its launch

 

Looks like A-VC didn't like Emsisoft's behavior blocker; zip awards in Proactive protection. Actually, it is fairly obvious they didn't like the alerts it generated. A matter of opinion. I would rather receive an alert than have the BB outright block an action. Note the recommendation that the AV scanning should be bumped up to the "thorough" setting.

 

in practice the "Fast" setting is more than enough and recommended, Fabian Wosar told us that it isnt have any real impact on protection, but it has on performance ofcourse.

 

Basically I agree,
but which settings do You recommend to change, and why?

 

Uncheck trust digitally signad apps (Pointless especially against Junkware)
Under settings>Additional and then threts and exclusions, check the boy to scan for a higher set of files.

Plus optionally under scan and performance its called i think i normally disable cascade resources to the system on startup

Also Trusted applications mode optionally to kick in even more.

Why didn't Kaspersky set the options, You recommend?
I guess it will effect performance, for a minimal plus in protection.
I don't have a machine with Kaspersky, so it's just a guess...

 

It doesnt hog that bad, only on startup of course

And i dont know why Kaspersky still just lets files signed run without even looking at them.

That is just the tie breaker. The two basically tied and going with the one that lost the year before is not a bad way to go. The practical difference between many of these product is litte more than splitting hairs. Thats as good a hair to split at any.

 

I continue to take issue with the way these things are being tested. User dependent should not be half-credit and they should not test only at default settings. Tests like this are useful, but only part of the story. Some of these programs will undoubtedly benefit more from improved settings than others. I would like to see that data.

 

What other way around?Be more specific.
