Thank you for the report, Paul! We're working on it and I appreciate the details. They'll definitely help us get to the bottom of this faster and more effectively. Thanks again!
Excellent point, Paul! You can always check if Heimdal is working properly by accessing this blocked website: http://drunkenstepfather.com/
Unfortunately, I can get to that site (Win 8.1 Pro 64). Traffic scanning and filtering on. And it isn't listed in the Websites Blocked log now either. Maybe it's been whitelisted
Please send this to support@heimdalsecurity.com. I wish I could help you right here, but I'm afraid I don't have the tech skills for this. Thank you!
I've never had Heimdal block ANY website including the above one. I've reset my networking adapter and router to obtain DNS automatically but no joy. I'm wondering whether it's because I'm connecting via IPv6...
Curious as to the reason for the above mentioned website to be on Heimdal's blocklist when URLVoid's scan report marks it as clean. I do note the analysis was done 6 months ago so it could be said to be out of date. ~ Removed URL Void Results as per Policy - PM Developer ~ Edited to add: a scan of the same URL at VirusTotal shows clean results and they're current as of today.
The Drunken Stepfather website also loads normally on my system. Maybe we can try a different URL to see Heimdal Pro in action.
So it is blocked in some and not with others. I hope they find the cause soon. Wonder what's causing this. Could it be Win 7 vs Win 8.1/10? I did not have this issue before in v1.0. I know they are looking at it.
Hi Paul, Please check if you have IpV6 checked in your network adapter settings. This setting often clashes with Heimdal PRO. We don't currently support it, but will soon. After unchecking it, the page should be blocked as you've seen it happen for other users. Thank you!
Could you also check if you have IpV6 enabled? Unchecking it will solve your problem in a second. Thank you!
OK, thanks. Next question. When are you likely to support IPv6 given that more ISPs and websites are moving to support the protocol? Regards EDIT: Just seen your post above about implementation of IPv6 that crossed with mine!
Yes, unchecking IPv6 in my network adapter settings did the trick. Site is now blocked. Strange it worked OK in v1.0 with that setting ticked. Note: Apparently, this is not the correct way to properly disable IPv6 (which is not recommended btw); one needs to tweak the registry or go here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929852 but it was not necessary in this case. Problem solved. Thanks Andra. Again, a good reason to publish a change log, so we know when we can switch IPv6 on again ...
I couldn't offer an exact ETA, but when it will happen, this will be the first place I'll publish the news on! Thank you all for your openness and interest!
I've already talked to the team about the change log and we're trying to make it happen as soon as possible (but that may not be as soon as we'd all want, so please just bear with us). Thank you!
You can always check if Heimdal is working properly by accessing this blocked website: http://drunkenstepfather.com/ I got to the website. and logs contain nothing but as you say disabling IPv6 Blocks the web page on my system as well. Is it a good idea to untick that options though? It blocks it but does not show in my log as a blocked site as well.
