TS is not just a renamed IS, it uses different engines and settings by default. They have several products with similar names in different languages which are all quite different, in tests they participate with English 360 AV (which was supposed to be the successor of IS, instead of TSE), which is also different (using Bitdefender and not the vendors QVM engine;a vailable here: http://down.sd.360.cn/360sd/360sd_5.0.0.5104X64_en.exe).
I don't think them having so many editions is helpful. If you ask me, it's a very wasteful way of making software. They should have a single program (360TS) and make it modular. So they'd essentially be making only 1 program and users would decide what they want during installation. Because currently, they are working with 5 different programs in parallel which is just stupid even if large portions of code are shared between them.
Q360 CN has lots of software. Even remote support and other paid services. So having a few more is not a big deal. Software engineering is not an issue with Q. In fact, it is of a very good quality. If someone asked me what is one area you'd like to see Qihoo improve, it would surely be better technical support to end users, either via email or forums. Either faster response, or a more direct approach. The rest is just fine with me
Until main topic 360 Total Security becomes unlocked, this can serve as a temporary topic or possibly even merge for TS users......
Hi I have just installed 360 essential and i am trying out the sandbox. There is a bar that shows up when using the sandbox which has 3 symbols in it and the one to the most left, what is that one about ?
LEFT: Allow/Disallow internet access for sandboxed object [executable]. Think of it as a sandbox Internet ON/OFF switch for anything sandboxed. MIDDLE: Browse spawned files from sanbox container inside [good for figuring out if executable is spawning additional files and where it hides them. RIGHT: Show/Hide green sandbox menu. Basically a pin button.
Ok ! I just can not save anything outside of the box, it says it has saved it to the desktop but there is nothing there. That is probably because i have my downloads set to D: but it should be changeable, how ? In 360 IS i think it was possible to manually copy and move any file ! ?
Hi I am using 360 TSE, but it has so many false positives. Can you or any one please tell me how do I disable QVMII engine?
@MAL1K You can't. The only option is to report the false positives, or change antivirus - which is what I did. On some computers I installed it on, it had serious problems wtih false positives, and on some it didn't.
@roger_m I had used Avira AV for so many years and never faced a single false positive. But Avira use huge resources and make my Pc very slow, no right click context menu search and system tray icon any more, so I switched to 360 TSE, which AV are you using?
Actually, I did find a workaround to this. Read my other post here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/posts/2548526/ Basically, you will need a firewall to block outgoing calls for qhactivedefense.exe. I haven't had any false positives since! I got the idea from this post on the neowin forums: http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1...in-progress/?do=findComment&comment=596835698 The good thing is 360 TSE works perfectly fine and still does scans after downloads and when running .exe files.
360 Total Security Essential 8.8.0.1020 (10 August 2016) Changelog: Added: Support Windows 10 Anniversary Update Fixed: Bug fixes Download without the database: https://www.360totalsecurity.com/en/download-free-antivirus/360-total-security-essential/ Download with Bitdefender database: https://free.360totalsecurity.com/totalsecurity/360TSE_Setup_Full_8.8.0.1020.exe
I've looked through the setting but I can't find a way to stop it scanning or detecting USB's or external drives...?
You need to click on the shield icon in the top left corner of the screen, above the text "Protection: On," to change the protection settings. Then, select Custom as the protection mode, and there is the option to toggle USB Drive Protection on and off. Here is a link to an image of the Custom protection options screen: http://i1-win.softpedia-static.com/screenshots/360-Total-Security_3.png
Only 360 Total Security is somewhat bloated, not Total Security Essential. 360 Total Security always has included Speedup and Cleanup modules and a few extras too, such as a replacement for Windows Update, and in recent versions a registry cleaner. However, 360 Total Security Essential, includes none of the extras, and is just an antivirus. To be fair, the junk cleaner in 360 TS is one of the best I've ever seen and can clean more junk files than other tools. However, I think that the Speedup function wants to disable too many things by default (but you can add items to the whitelist to stop them from being detected again).
OK, I see. But doesn't it have any big impact on the system when it comes to CPU, RAM usage and disk activity?
I've never taken much notice of RAM usage. But, CPU and disk usage are not excessive, and you change the protection level to make it lighter if you want.
