    Hello David
I'll be glad to help you to solve the issue with USB scanner blocking. Please run VS 3.x and once usb scanner is blocked please send the C:\Program Data\VoodooShield\DeveloperLog.log to vlad@voodooshield.com
I'm sure it will be easy to fix and you could enjoy VS 3.x too

    Thanks in advance

Yes thanks Vlad. I'm using Paid version of 2.86 so will version 3 come through the Program Update function?

    Vlad and Dan,

When I run PrivaZer I keep getting a prompt to allow dismhost.exe when it starts cleaning the MFT. I have whitelisted dismhost.exe now which I hope is safe to do, otherwise I will need to baby sit PrivaZer when it runs, and I'd rather not have to do that.

    Thanks.

It does the same when you use the Built in Disk Cleanup as dismhost.exe puts files in the system temp folder so it's in the user space and again to me it's normal.

Yeah, it probably is Daniel, but still annoying. I could close or disable VS before running PrivaZer but there must be a better solution.

I've noticed VS has blocked some MBAM command lines too. I don't know how to copy them or I would post them here.

OK, so I leave my machine alone for a while only to come back and find VS blocking dismhost.exe again. This time it is Win10 doing it's own maintenance. I'm sorry guys, but I'm not here to baby sit my machines. There was no web applications running so why does VS block a MS signed .exe?

Too much of a PITA for me so I've unistalled once again.

This issue would be completely resolved if the user had the ability to:

    • Look-up block events in a real-time log
    • Right-click on the blocked object within the log and have the option to white-list (either *.* or argument)

    a la NVT ERP...

    Thanks Vlad

I have installed 3.07 and after training that has resolved the problem.

3.07 appears to be running smoothly.

I thinks it's better to ask Dan (@VoodooShield ) how he plans to do that.

Hi Vladimir ! I have a feature request; Is there any way you could make the gadget switchable so it can be disabled and not just hidden? Reason being I have always heard @ read that Microsoft said years ago to not use gadgets as they are a security risk @ also they consume a lot of resources. Seems to me that if the icon by the clock has the same menu and function as the gadget, then whats the point of having the gadget in the first place, or am I missing something?? Also, any plans to release a final version of VoodooAi separately as some of us might like to run that program independently of VoodooShield?? Thanks for your time and consideration

It's not that way is these cases (gadgets) on Win Vista and Win 7 were considered unsafe but I continue to use them without issues on Windows 10 x64 but it's it's produced by others not Microsoft! It's just a word that VS uses for there desktop notification shield.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

    Hi Vlad,

I'm sorry but I have completely removed VS from my machines with REVO Uninstaller Pro and I don't have that log available. Perhaps I'll install again later to gather the log for you.

    Thanks,
    Dave

OK Vlad, I reinstalled VS and will send you an email with the log shortly.
    Thanks,

Thanks Daniel for your reply, I guess it does not matter what they call it, my point was if you watch the video on their site you will see the balloon notifications will pop up from the icon next to the clock in the task bar, not the "gadget" . Unless I'm missing some sort functionality of this "gadget" it is worthless @ consuming resources. Thanks, Darrin

But it's not unsafe like you were talking about the Gadgets on Win Vista & Win 7 and has nothing to do with products that have pop-ups or balloon notifications and what resources? LOL Tell me any security product that don't have any balloons, messages and so called gadgets. I just don't see where you are coming from as you were comparing to (Gadgets) feature of Win Vista and Win 10 from Microsoft......!

Hello Triple Helix! Boy did I open a can of worms... Alrighty then, I'm not comparing gadgets from Vista to Windows 10, and I agree with you on security issues produced by others, not Microsoft, I was just expressing that I have always heard that "Microsoft said years ago" to not use gadgets as they are a security risk @ also consume a lot of resources. Tell me I'm wrong. My point was if you watch the video on VoodooShield site you will see the balloon notifications will pop up from the icon next to the clock in the task bar, not the "gadget". So if the icon in the task bar performs the same function as the gadget, then why have the gadget? Darrin

What VS calls a "Gadget" is completely different to the Window Gadgets. Anyway, in the activated Pro version you can already hide the Gadget.

Well it's best if Dan @VoodooShield or Vlad @VladimirM answer because you lost me. LOL And I have been using VS from the beginning and no issues.

    Cheers,

    Daniel ;)

Widgets can be a security risk. Microsoft has warned of this possibility - and as far as I know their admonition has not changed over time - even with newer versions of Windows.

Kaspersky does not use a widget precisely because it represents a vulnerability; this is an "official" policy.

Anyhow, if the widget security is a concern, then just do as others have pointed out => disable it in Pro version.

Hello hjlbx! I'm glad you see where I'm coming from, Thank You! You say I can disable this widget in the Pro version? I have so far run only the free version and was only able to hide the widget, not disable it. I do not recall any settings to disable this, which is why I posted on here requesting a way to disable it... go figure, perhaps I'm going blind in my old age. LOL Where might I find this setting in the Pro version? ThankYou for your time hjlbx.

    I believe "Hide" = "disable."

Ask @VoodooShield as he is the only one who probably knows if the setting completely disables the widget code or allows any widget process to run in the background sans the widget GUI.
