I know that Kaspersky antivirus is one of the best but it also makes my laptop a little bit slow. There are 3 protective settings, Low, Optimal and Maximum. I just use the Optimal protection settings and disable the System Watcher as I already have SpyShelter AntiKeylogger Free. Do you think it would be ok if I just put Kaspersky in Low protective settings to improve laptop performance?
As long as you have other protections, like EMET, Sandboxie, etc, no problem. You shouldn't trust an AV as a first line of defense anyway since all of them can be bypassed.
Why on earth would you turn off System Watcher?! This is a behavior analysis, integrity and cloud system, one of the strongest points of Kaspersky. Anti-keylloger is just a fraction of this protection system that imo can' ever be replaced by Spyshelter...
My new Acer Laptop is just 1.9 Ghz w/ 2gig RAM..don't have cash to add more ram as of now. I think System Watcher eats up resources and I just want a purebred antivirus. Beside, I am not that impressed with those behavior blocker like that. I tried Comodo Leaktest and with it only antivirus and everything's on and it got poor score of 6/34, but with Spyshelter Anti-keylogger enabled it got an excellent score of 31/34.
