    Hi paulderdash

You are right at this point you can't untick with patching off. Just turn it on and then you can untick what you don't want.

ok, I see where it blocked some bad websites in the logs from when I tried to go to them. But I never got anything in my browser to say the web sites were blocked. The old version use to pop up a page.

I found sometimes it did, but sometimes it didn't.

Likewise when I come on via my VPN, I used to be notified of DNS change. Not seeing that anymore.

I just did the one month trial voucher that ya'll offer and so far I'm impressed with the software. No major conflicts (barring from making sure my firewall allows it through) and it's lightweight. I'll see how the trial goes, but so far, it looks like it might be a solid purchase and a good piece of security software to have in one's arsenal if you go with multiple layered security. Thanks for offering a one month trial so I could at least try it out and see how it performs on my system.

Another question, is using Heimdal Pro and Secunia PSI overdoing it or will they compliment each other to make sure any and all third party software is up to date? I know Microsoft keeps mostly on top of patching but third party software is a PITA if I have to do it manually. I know Heimdal does more than keeping software up to date but I just want to make sure I'm not doing anything unnecessarily redundant.

Support just told me Andra will be back on Wilders, but at this moment she is very busy with the launch of Heimdal V2 and she doesn't have time.

they really need to fix the immediate updating of apps on instant install. I mean Chrome was installed before I could even get to shutting off updates

Yip, I tried a newer version now in Shadow Mode. I set patching to on, unticked everything, then set patching to off, but it managed to update Firefox and Chrome (both 64-bit to 32-bit), Adobe Flash Player and Google Drive (both of which were up to date already), before I killed it. (OT: First time I have used Shadow Defender - magnificent!).
They should have all patching disabled at install, until explicitly allowed, and separate 'enable scan' and 'enable patching' options as in V1.0.
    Have given them that feedback.
Seems like this is a public live beta! The website should really indicate that.
Edit: So it's still V1.0 for me; hope they iron out the problems soon.

I agree that really needs fixing. Only reason I wasn't messed up was ERP challenged all the installs and I blocked them. But we shouldn't have to do that.

agree and I am sure they are working on it. But as we see things they need to know. Still is one of the best products out there and it is only going to get better.

You probably have tweaked your ERP settings, because even with ERP out of the box and set to alert, Heimdal managed to sneak some upgrades by it.

I think you are correct. I have unchecked allowing everything in Program Files from automatically running, and also I don't let it do anything because of signed software.

    ERP only challenged my
Yes, ERP with my settings challenged only Firefox; Chrome, Flash Player and Google Drive sneaked through before I shut it down.

well Peter, I am going to have a problem with this. I love Heimdal but the fact that it installed Chrome when I don't have it, is a problem. Almost like a PUP/PUA. And that is my issue. Almost like they and Google have this worked out. So instead of a software updater or patching system, it becomes what I said above

Good Morning! Peter2150...I also have Heimdal Pro...in use for a couple of months now...and haven't seen any install of Chrome...and don't want or need any trace of Chrome on my system. I'm a little concerned in regards to Heimdal's decision too install it without the users consent...in my books a major breach of both Confidentiality...and Trust. Now I just checked Heimdal and wondering where on Heimdal the Chrome install is to be found? Sincerely...Securon

It's a new 'feature' in v2 only. And to confirm, it's a horrible one!

Good Morning! Faircot thanks for the heads up...I wasn't aware of the V2! Does the user receive a balloon pop-up from Heimdal as a notification for V2...or is it up too the user to go to Heimdal to the About query on Heimdal where it has the upgrade the Heimdal agent input? Sincerely...Securon

That is a good question. I am living with it a bit, and then will inquire of Heimdal.

I have totally disabled patching. Honestly I can live without it. It is all the other parts I bought this software for and they work and are very good. I can patch myself up. Lol

So I guess you had to let it install Chrome, then you uninstalled it and disabled patching?
