installed it on my computer and it is currently running along with Appguard nicely. I really like the web filtering ability just like Forticlient. However currently the Opera Browser is not supported by Sophos.:thumbd:

If I am not wrong, its pure signature based. No HIPS whatsoever, right ?

Giving it a run here and liking it so far. I like the simplicity, no bloat

I noticed that whenever you run a signature update sophos turns off its protection and you'll get a warning from the windows security center about that all the time. That's annoying. Also for me the web filtering doesn't work reliably. Sometimes it just doesn't work at all. I have no idea what exactly causes this issue.

I have looked through the files and found some files labelled as hipsrules but do not know if they are in use in the current beta or not.

I am hoping that at some point there will be more information from the web dashboard such as warning if the product hasn't been updated in x amount of days and I have also requested patch management on their forum.

Could one run this as a companion AV alongside EAM?

I am sure you could. I am currently running on a trial of HitmanPro Alert and its running really well. Whether I keep HMPA is another matter as it depends on their licencing as there have been rumours on the forum about needing a licence for each, HMP and HMPA in the new year, where currently it covers both. Common sense would leave it as it is, but who knows?

Ive chopped and changed my AV quite a bit over the years, but am feeling that this Sophos home and HitmanproAlert combo is a keeper. So much so that I have purchased HMPA for 2 years. (Just hoping that the sale of HMP to Sophos doesn't change their product line too much)

Ive not noticed any difference to be honest. The first boot was slow, but after that its been fine. I think its the lightest AV I have tried so far when running, l love the simplicity of it, just does what its supposed to do.

Can anyone tell me if it has the option to prompt for action when a threat is found rather than automatically quarantining it?

    Scheduled scan (weekly or daily)
    Quick or custom scan.

After the program quarantining the malware you can go to your sophos account from the browser and mark allow if you think is a false positive.
So there is an option but from the browser not from the software interface.

Main scan is quick on my machine.
Custom scan only with right click on folder or file you want......

Is the Home version connected to their cloud, for zero day protection features?
