There are lots of folks here here who support you guys and understand a bit of what you guys are going through and what you are attempting to do, its a shame that an individual chooses to hide behind an anonymous e-mail address to launch personal attacks (the coward). If they did that here they would be dealt with (as they should be) promptly I am sure.

    Hi BG,

I believe you misunderstood Wajamus. He did not accuse the person under the anonymous e-mail address of personal attacks, I think he was referring to some posts on this forum.

I have no idea if this was also directed at me (I did call them amateurs), but the best way to counter such things is to deliver a usable product within the promised time frame. (I remember Wajamus complained about hurt feelings before.)

at their deeds you shall know them

and in this respect they do not have much to show after almost 2 years. Lots of promises, lots of excuses (developer illness, developer left, now illness again), missed time frames. IMO not very professional.

    Cheers

    Hey all,

Thanks for the support everyone. First off, the comment we shared was referring to someone e-mailing us behind the veil of a false e-mail address. The post refers to this solely, nothing shared on this forum. Manolito, has nothing to do with you :)

Developer is back, it was Iurie, he had bronchitis. He is back as of yesterday and is working with you guys behind the scenes to fix up the main bugs.

Always, if you got issues - mail us at info@ax64.com with you logs.

    Thanks!

    Waj

Waj, Support is deserved by good developer communication, software that works as advertised, and meaningful updates done in a reasonable time.

    Hi guys,

We've completed second build of FlashBack beta.

Build 698 contains the following bug fixes/optimizations

    • Fix hourly backups not working
    • Fix Cannot uninstall AX64 Time Machine issue (see workaround at bottom of post above)
    • Fix Error when enabling Native restore; results in an error -99967
    • Make native (hot) restore default
    • Fix: Hidden partitions not backing up, and thus, bare metal restore not working.
If you haven't received a mail for the beta and you'd like to test it out - please mail us at info@ax64.com and we'll provide you the build.

    Thanks!

    Regards,

    Waj

Hi folks, I haven't been in the loop. Is the new Flashback a released version of the new name? Thanks.

    Hi,

Can we do a direct update from Flashback Build 693 to Build 698? Or need to uninstall & reinstall.

    Thank you.

    Hi Smith,

Always recommend uninstall, restart, then install of new version when trying out new betas. However, technically, yes - installing over top of build 693 will work.

    Thanks.

    Dear Folks,
I have been away for over a year now, and decided to pop back and see what has changed—a cursory glance at the posts here suggests that not much.
Rather than plow through the hundreds of comments posted since then, I have decided to see whether there is a shortcut.
Is there a user manual that lists the features Flashback does and does not support and on which platforms? Specifically, is there full support for Windows XP (X86)?

Sorry @wajamus, the uninstall 'fix' is a HUGE swing and a miss.

    Now, it's even worse.

The 'uninstall' process still does not work. I ran the new update program, which instructs to reboot, then run the regular uninstall program. Upon running the uninstall program, the EXACT SAME error occurs. It sits there at ~50% and does not progress past. This is with Xeroweight version 693. (Uninstall program calls it 694).

And now, I cannot even install the newer version, because it still redirects me to try to uninstall the previous version. So installing over an older version is actually impossible.

Unfortunately, my uninstall from version 655 with build 698 went horribly wrong as well. After the reboot and b.655 uninstall, another reboot was required before being able to install b698. That left the system completely inoperable (stop error 7B) without the possibility to boot into safe mode. Also last known good configuration, system restore, etc. did not work. Of course, also the pre-boot AX64/Time Machine recovery environment was removed, so no luck there. Now for the good news: by booting from external media with the AX64resc.iso noticed that luckily the actual base image file and incrementals were still there, so after a lengthy restore (long chain), I was back in business (with b655). Will not repeat these steps before the uninstall situation has improved. Seems that the current uninstall process is just not robust enough and could do with some fail-safe mechanisms to avoid my experience and that of waylo in the post just above. If you can combine the robustness of MR6 with FlashBack's ease of use rather sooner than later, you should have a good future. Reliability is more important than simplicity though, so keep up the good work.

Wow, that is far worse than my experience. Mine just seems to get stuck at the driver?/executable removal part. Maybe your experience awaits if mine ever gets past where I am.

    Hi Norman,
User manual is located in the
    https://ax64.uservoice.com/knowledgebase

And...According to the following Web page, Does NOT supports Windows XP.

I'm also on Win7x64, so there must be some conflicting issue on my system. Tried disabling anti-virus too, with same non-uninstall results.

Pity. On the other hand, think of all the time I'd be saving not reading this forum.;)

Forgot to mention: uninstall problem described a few posts above was with WIN7 x86. Lesson here is to create USB or optical recovery media with AX64 Time Machine / Xeroweight FlahBack immediately after a successful install. Of course, that is recommended for all backup and imaging programs.

The problem with uninstalling, at least in this house, has existed with every version, going back to earliest ones, and remaining still.
    It freezes about half way.
What have done, and seems to work, is to use one or another of the uninstaller programs (not the Windows built in one) to "force removal of all traces," and then use a registry cleaner to seek and destroy the others.
This info for whatever it's worth, and not difficult or complicated to do.

I did a quick test of the new build. Image and restore fine. I didn't keep it as it doesn't solve my problem using it with the tracking file. I did uninstall it with Revu and no problems.

I have seen the same thing and for as long. Revo has paid for itself :)
