@pegas I didn't know that. I will see if I can install the update in time.

Yeah, I didn't know it as well. I was told this by our national MS support. How far this information is correct I don't know but true is that Win updates in 10 works differently than on 7/8. But what I surely know is that I tried the upgrade (from 8.1 to 10) next day and it finished fine.

I am underwhelmed by the new features in this upgrade. After playing with it for a few hours it doesn't seem any different from what Windows 10 was before.

Correction: The old Windows 7 image backup has disappeared from Security and Maintenance. Hope there are not many who have used it.

    hi
    have you used disk cleaner and after Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase ?

did you notice that updating with the last iso , it saves data on other partitions?

and Windows.old could not be deleted :( Disk Cleanup doesn't delete it

some programs update crashes and eset smart security hips is disabled and can't be enabled

It did in my case. It isn´t "automatic", I selected it in the list of items to delete (2 items). A warning shows.

CCleaner can delete applications now that you can't remove within Windows.

Yup, have deleted a few W10 apps using Ccleaner that would not uninstall using regular methods.

As regards removing of win apps I second roger_m that IObit Uninstaller is best.

Has anyone else had a problem with their time zone changing after the fall update? I am in Eastern time zone and I have a machine that has changed to Central 3 times today. Another machine has done it at least once. The machines I upgraded as part of the Insider preview are fine. Just the ones I have upgraded since it went public are giving me issues.

--Make that 5 times and counting.

No, not here. My machines are still set to Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time.

I have, but I'm in the Central time zone and it keeps defaulting to Eastern. I finally turned off set time zone automatically and set the time zone manually. That worked.

EDIT: Okay, I think I have it. My ISP, Time Warner Cable, has apparently assigned me an IP address with a geolocation in the Eastern time zone. Try going to www.iplocation.net, enter your IP address (if the site doesn't automatically detect it) and see if at least some geolocation providers have it listed in the Central time zone.

I use those 2 after every Windows Update. As for disc cleanup I use a command:

    cleanmgr /sageset:65535 & cleanmgr /sagerun:65535

I think it worth the upgrade. I have noticed that it is much more responsive, occasional slow boot times appear to have gone and the start menu issues such as search appear to be fixed. It was a big download, one would assume they had a lot to fix. Users have been reporting that it has removed some software. It has not happened to me thankfully as i have huge CAD packages and engineering software insalled that use akamai services. Adobe should be fine in that sense. No issues with office either.

Win10privacy by winprivacy.de. The most complete solution in my opinion. Just follow my instructions earlier regarding Psexec and uninstall all those useless apps.

    regards.

I just restored my 10 image and then updated it, and got the big November upgrade. It took a whopping 3+ hours to do the whole thing. Seems very slow at first, then after a few reboots it speeds up, so I'm hoping it'll be ok. If not, then I'll need to do a clean install, which would be quicker anyhow based on what I saw today. But there were no problems getting the TH2 update/upgrade and installing went fine. It did fine after I hit Retry, the first pass had a problem. I'm making a Macrium image now of all that I did today.

Thanks. I missed that there was a set time zone automatically option. I will try that, but I won't be at that computer again until Monday.

I just wanted to update you on this. I have now seen a few other users in the MDL forums mentioning Regedit search crashes with this build now as well. Not sure how wide-spread this is, but it's starting to show up with more users being on this build now. I suppose a larger majority likely don't use Regedit or search within regedit, but regardless, seems to be a legitimate problem with this build.

Interesting. It seems to be fixable. I would expect the key will be in a similar location to the one I posted earlier. I would start from the bottom up in large chunks until it fails. Then in smaller ones until you locate the bad key. Then export it (in case you would need it back for some reason, and/or create a restore point) and delete it.

I install the update on a second computer via Windows Update. It took about an hour to install.

A few drivers were replaced with older versions during the upgrade. But other than that, I think everything else is fine.

Upgraded and so far so good. The upgrade lasted 45 minutes or so. All settings, files etc. has been kept except Synaptic touchpad. I had to tweak it again but it has been a quick job. I've got 3 more Win apps counting totally to 33, not a big deal, I will uninstall them using IObit uninstaller. So I'm satisfied how the upgrade went and with the result.
