I might use windows but I never have used One Drive, there is a old saying "Never put all your eggs in one basket, especially one with M$ Privacy Issues "

I just don't believe anything M$ claims anymore. This downgrading of services is typical of their approach these days. I still run Win 7, I think it is probably the best OS ever released by anyone, but it wouldn't surprise me if M$ stop officially supporting it tomorrow.

I had stored a lot of photos on onedrive but after this I want to move them to a different service . Which alternatives are there ? I like google photos for unlimited storage but the interface is a mess , no folders just all the photos together .

    LoL. I only use 400mb.o_O
:argh::argh::argh: How on earth a user can abuse an unlimited plan?:argh::argh::argh:
    https://blog.onedrive.com/onedrive_changes/
What exactly did they abuse? Wasn't their plan unlimited?
And because a small number "ambused" o_O :D their unlimited plan :argh: they penalise all the users with small plans and free plans :isay:  .
Some users exceeded 75TB (but they had unlimited so they did not really abused their plan) by using 14.000 times more than the average, so they penalise the average user that uses 75TB/14.000= 5.3GB!!!:rolleyes:

And Microsoft wants us to trust them and their policies? o_O
Good luck convincing me to upgrade my systems to windows 10...

I've been using Copy for years: https://copy.com?r=AUupvU
It keeps all my PCs in synch and I've used its versioning feature (keeps a file history) to recover from disastrous file changes. It is also a well-behaved app: no hangs, no crashes, and doesn't hog bandwidth like OneDrive does (OneDrive really, um, sucks, to put it bluntly; I only use it to store desktop wallpapers).

Here's the gem of Copy above all others: you do not have to store files in Copy's folder; you can use hard links to point to anywhere and Copy will synch them perfectly in real-time (OneDrive only synchs these on boot/launch); here's what I do:
    Code:
    IF NOT EXIST "%USERPROFILE%\Copy\Documents" mklink /D "%USERPROFILE%\Copy\Documents" "%USERPROFILE%\Documents"
IF NOT EXIST "%USERPROFILE%\Copy\Public Documents" mklink /D "%USERPROFILE%\Copy\Public Documents" "%PUBLIC%\Documents"
IF NOT EXIST "%USERPROFILE%\Copy\Saved Games" mklink /D "%USERPROFILE%\Copy\Saved Games" "%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games"

I am looking at Google photos , Box , copy , shoebox and flickr . GP has a really nice feature - assistant , i am really liking it , I uploaded a few folders and it made a few really nice gif files. And it also has a web interface to look at photos , copy and shoebox dont have that .

    Don't forget about Mega: https://mega.nz

Google Photos is nice if you don't want to mess with files; it's pretty much the most efficient route for light photo taking, cropping, sprucing, sharing.

ROTFLMAO! Yeah, the irony of someone abusing 'unlimited storage' is hilarious. Just another day at the Mickeysoft *pork pie factory.

*Pork pie = lie: British slang.

I've learned a lot of British slang here on Wilders. Something new to add to my list: "Pork pie" :argh: Thanks Dave. :)

It's sometimes shortened to 'porky' or 'porkies' as in: M$ tell a lot of porkies about their update cycle. :D

If you have an amazon prime subscription you get unlimited photo storage. Its a pretty decent option.

MS always proved to be unreliable, undecided, what it wants,, just like their email service being renamed every few years (hotmail, live, outlook).

:) Nice expression. Which reminded me of Porky Pig from Looney Tunes.
Probably I'll start reffering to Microsoft as LooneySoft... from 2011 to now I've lost count on how many bad decisions they have made.
At least on some they were fast to take them back, one that comes in mind is

My phone came with 40TB of cloud storage. I'm not sure if I'm able to access it from my PC though.

I guess I should consider myself smart for not being dependent on OneDrive. If I was into the MS ecosystem, this would have ~ Snipped as per TOS ~ me off.

From OneDrive blog By Omar Shahine - February 19, 2015
    ....10 months later....
1st. Decreased free storage from 30GB to 5GB ( superb!!! first increase it by 3x times and then decrease it by 6x times!!!)
2nd. Office storage benifit went from 20GB to Unlimited to be reverted back to 1TB and the most important blaming some users for abuse, because the only thing they did was trusting Microsoft's (~Looneysoft~) promise about unlimited.
3rd. Hundreds of millions of people that use OneDrive won't trust any word/document/agreement that comes from Microsoft anymore!!!

And this is the short-sightedness of their decision: Microsoft (as a whole, not just OneDrive) will pull the rug out from under its customers. TechNet may have been understandable but this isn't.

I have never used OneDrive as I prefer Dropbox, Box & Google Drive. I have actually removed it from Windows 10 but it seems to appear again after the big cumulative updates. Personally I think MS have shot themselves in the foot with this. Punishing everyone due to the actions a tiny minority will probably cause them to lose users to other cloud storage providers.

More specifically, the scapegoating and obvious lack of transparency. The problem isn't the abuse (they could have just addressed that specifically). I don't know what the problem is (cash flow or greed or capacity...?) but add to that, 'reputation problems'.
