Are you running Windows 7 or VirtualBox?

    Not to my knowledge.

Fabian, thanks for your reply. I was using Windows 7 but it did have Virtualbox on it which I removed as was suggested including the command line removal. Everything was working fine until I disconnected from AirVPN after which I got a BSOD. After that I had problems connecting to the internet unless I was using AirVPN. I had tried EIS in Windows 7 running Virtualbox and had some problems there too. I guess Emsisoft and Virtualbox conflict really badly.

Dzp5t, thanks for letting me know EAM works with AirVPN. I do really like how Emsisoft's approach security and my experience with the company has been very good. They have issued me with a refund and were very decent about it all :thumb: I do think I'll try EAM some time soon and make the most of the 30 day trial before I spend my money and put Emsisoft through the inconvenience of giving me a refund.

We don't trigger the BSOD. VirtualBox's bridged networking driver will BSOD your system when EIS is installed. You may also be missing a hotfix for Windows 7 that is required to run EIS properly:

Can you check that you have the hotfix installed?

I don't think I had that hotfix installed but it would be impossible for me to find out as I have completely reinstalled Windows 7 to get rid of issues with Virtualbox and the annoying GWX.exe for Windows 10. I am considering trying EAM as I mentioned in a previous post. Would I need the hotfix you linked? AirVPN and Steam are the main programs on my system so shoud they all work ok together on a clean system?

Thank you for your help Fabian, it's much appreciated :)

EAM doesn't need the hot fix.

That's good to know. I can always give EAM a go when I feel ready.

If I'm running Emisoft Anti-Malware would it be OK to just use Malwarebytes as an on demand scanner and not having it running all the time? In other words, would running Malwarebytes just be redundant?

Both can be run in RT together, both can be used as companion AV, both complement each other. It all depend of your paranoia level and available system resources.

What an amazing changelog that version 11 beta has, the already strong protection will become much better.

There is nothing to fix. Process Lasso thinks it's a good idea to open handles for the same processes with all kinds of access rights enabled over and over again instead of just opening them once and reuse them. It's actually quite surprising to me that an application which purpose is to make the best of your resources is wasting resources like that.
What is fixed however is the white-list issue. So you can at least white-list it properly now no matter the load order.
