Install a trial of the 2016 product first. Click the "x days left" link on the Bitdefender console screen and then click the "Activate Code" link. You'll be prompted for your 2015 activation code as in the attached image below.
I bought the $14.95 BIS 2016 deal. Within 24 hours it started to malfunction. Same experience I've always had with Bitdefender on 4 different systems... so it isn't the system, it's the soft. I'd love to use it because I like the minimalist style, but if it doesn't work then it is useless...
I have no idea what have you done but this deal works just fine with me and many others who bought it using my link.
The deal link works. I am referring to Bitdefender 2016 - the software itself. You provided good link.
What problems are you guys having with Bitdefender 2016? I have Bitdefender installed on the following with no problems. One android tablet (free version) One android phone (free version) Two Windows 10 x64 laptops (Bitdefender antivirus plus) One Windows 7 x64 tower (Bitdefender antivirus plus)
Internet Security on W8.1 - AutoPilot malfunctions, Paranoid Mode malfunctions, Firewall controls malfunction. I think Bitdefender is aware of it already. Lots of complaints on the BD forum.
Ok. Personally I don't have any issues with my Bitdefender AV. I wanted just an AV without anything else. I'm totally fine with Windows Firewall (and EMET 5.5 when it's out) so I bought just an AV. I've even disabled SSL scanning, Bitdefender Agent's automatic startup etc just to keep things as simple as possible.
Bitdefender has been rolling out an update (20.0.19.1099) during the last week that is said (on the Bitdefender forums) to fix many bugs (but I haven't seen release notes). The update requires a computer reboot, but you may not receive a prompt to reboot your computer. When the update arrived on my computer, there was only an entry in the Update event log that said that a reboot was required. Perhaps if I had waited longer, I would have received a prompt to reboot. I have no doubt that you are experiencing serious problems with Bitdefender on your computer. My personal experience, though, has been mostly trouble-free: I have Bitdefender Internet Security 2016 installed on a Windows 8.1 computer with 8 GB of RAM. When I first installed Bitdefender on this computer, I noticed that Bitdefender was using a huge amount of RAM, sometimes more than 1 GB (not enough to cause any performance problem on an 8-GB computer). Recently, Bitdefender has been using just barely 300 MB of RAM. Perhaps I was seeing the large RAM usage during Bitdefender's initial scan of my system. Perhaps an update has corrected the problem. I may have experienced one bug with Bitdefender 2016: After switching to Bitdefender's Movie mode (which suspends Bitdefender updates and increases screen brightness), I switched back to Standard mode but didn't receive any Bitdefender updates for several hours. Even selecting "Update Now" did not download an update. However, after rebooting my computer, hourly updates resumed. It's possible that Bitdefender's update server hadn't offered any updates during this period, but there's normally an update every hour, like clockwork. I once had Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 (the previous Bitdefender version) installed on a Windows XP computer with only 2 GB of RAM. That computer's performance with Bitdefender 2015 installed was absolutely dreadful. I replaced Bitdefender on that computer with Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 and performance improved markedly. (Bitdefender 2016 no longer supports Windows XP and Vista, which suggests that Bitdefender may have optimized their 2016 code for modern operating systems.) I still have Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 installed at home on a Windows 7 computer with 4 GB of RAM. I have experienced no problems with Bitdefender 2015 on this computer whatsoever. I also have installed Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 on 10 different computers of friends and clients (9 computers are Windows 7 and one is Windows Vista). I'm not sure, but these computers may all have at least 4 GB or RAM. Users tell me that computer performance with Bitdefender 2015 installed has been great. All of these computers are set to use Autopilot, and users have not reported any problems.
My system is i7 4720HQ w\ 12GB RAM and SSD. Even on this system BD 2016 caused serious slow down. Change any of the settings and there would be random reversions of settings, AutoPilot would stay on when enabling Paranoid Mode, repeated firewall alerts for apps that already had custom rules created, GUI malfunctions, etc, etc... It's pointless. On every system I've ever had, I've had bad experiences with Bitdefender products. I like the minimalist style, but the softs always malfunction. System after system... so it's no coincidence.
That's an impressive system! As I said in the post that you quoted, I have no doubt that you have experienced serious problems with Bitdefender on your computer. Although my experience with Bitdefender has been mostly trouble-free, Bitdefender clearly has to fix the problems that other users, like you, are experiencing.
Running a Dell Optiplex 755 - Win 10 Pro 32 bit- 2 GB ram- Computer a few years old- Have run Bitdefender for years- bought Bitdefender Internet Security 2016 and works flawlessly. Highly recommended.
Have had to go back to WD due to Bitdefender slowing system. Excellent product-just slows me way down.
Bitdefender 2016 security service is using a lot less memory now. I have it installed on Windows 10 64 bit machine.
I have no idea why BD's installation always fails whenever I try to install it. Even in a clean installed OS, it still fails. That's why I hate BD's decision for the online-only version of installation. It could have been okay if the download speed was great. But no. It would take an hour and a half to finish the download. And when it would start installing, an error would occur saying that the files may be corrupted. Worse, it would start downloading again. And the download-error cycle continues. Grrrr.... Anyway, I had installed BD 2016 once after I followed a "fix" offered by a BD user in the BD forums. But BD forums now won't let me access, probably because of IP address problem. I probably won't install BD for now because it would take me another 1 and 1/2 hours of just waiting.
Wow. At first I thought I had missed a product update. 20.0.25.1377 occurred on Feb 2 from 20.0.24.1290.
I installed BitDefender about a month ago on my Windows 10 Pro system and had problems with Autopilot. It would not save any of the games I added, so it would never automatically go into game mode. When I closed the UI and then reopen it, all the games I added would be gone. The other sections (e.g. movie) would save and work under autopilot, but it was useless for gaming. Tried doing a clean re-install of BD, but it didn't help.
