Panda seems to be blocking the file itself (that contains PUP downloader etc). Avast is better - it blocks the connection/PUP installer that is inside real program installer.
WSA is extremely good at blocking various risky sites as you go around the web. That's the feature I find the most useful (and perhaps most hateful for some) against PUPs. I'll see how the "test" goes. If he manages to infect the computer, I'll possibly try another solution just to see how products differentiate :)

If I remove the check mark for allowing trusted programs to access protected data without warning, I get a popup that I am making an attempt to take a screenshot, etc.
If I check YES to allow it, the popup reappears when I try it again. This happens on both CTR & PRTSCN & SnagIt. Using Webroot SecureAnywhere v 9.0.3.37.

Thanks for your honesty. Smart support for Wilders members only. :thumb:

"Talk to Webroot" online provides customers with the copy-paste dumb support from "them":
In order to address the issue you reported, please uninstall and then reinstall Webroot SecureAnywhere using the special steps below.

Unlike the obsolete online resources, the trial was useful. And quite the time saver - now uninstalled for good, I don't need to get a refund.

Not my experience. I've found Webroot Tech Support pretty good. Also the Community Forum.

And I find their online manual (question mark in top right hand corner of GUI) not bad either.

Anyway that's my mileage, for what it's worth.

EDIT: It may be true that for more advanced settings for IT Pros, such as TH"s recommendations for settings before uninstalling, Tech Support are less helpful. And it is true that I have sometimes had the dumb robotic reply which can be very annoying. But on the whole, I find they're not bad at all.

wsa av user here. this is the second time wsa's tray icon turns gray with a red exclamation on it. on the main screen it says something similar to "active threats found. scan your computer". but when the scan is complete it turns green and says nothing's found.
what gives? i'm on win10, btw. thanks

If it works with WSA you can use another if you want, but do you need to? IMO no you don't But yes it will run with other Anti-Malwares and AV's but I don't see the need.

Yes I will get them also when I download any type of malware as it was detected on Download in realtime so when you do a scan after it ignores it until you execute it then it will remove and also if you scan the the detected file it will remove it as well, all depends how you have your settings set. And to see what was detected save a scan log and look near the bottom of the log and it will tell you what was detected.

    Thanks,

    Daniel :)

    Right here:

Can you please do a clean reinstall of WSA and Please follow the steps closely!

    • Make sure you have a copy of your 20 Character Alphanumeric Keycode! Example: SA69-AAAA-A783-DE78-XXXX
    • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
    • Download a Copy Here
    • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
    • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and don't import any settings if asked to as you can set it up as you like once it's done
    • Let it finish it's install scan
    • Reboot once again
    Thanks,

    Daniel :)

Oh, I'm familiar with your clean reinstall of WSA macro... Thank you.
I was thinking "settings"....eg: Advanced Settings, toggle settings...
I was thinking "settings" recommend eg: at default or turn off before CP uninstall. My imagination. :argh:

Yes, I'm also familiar and agree with your Max and "like to know" settings.
I got it in my head that there were recommended setting to set before uninstalling eg: refresh install
    As always. Thanks.....:)
BTW ~ where's explain why Firewall settings different in W8.1 vs Vista.
On W8.1, I have WSA Firewall check boxes. On Vista, I have WSA Firewall check boxes and bullets.

    thanks. will do.

    @Triple Helix:
the problem is it happened not while i was downloading anything or hit by a drive-by-dl, but while, for instance, browsing wilders.com only. the main screen and sys tray icon says, for instance, 4 active threats found and recommends doing a system scan, but when the scan's complete, it says nothing's found and both main screen and sys tray icon turn green. it doesn't say it deleted those threats it found. i saved the scan log each time it happened and there was nothing about an active threat in it, either.

Can you please Submit a Support Ticket and they can have a look to see what's triggering that and let you know how to fix it.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

Could you implement an option so the interface doesn't change the colour when I disable a security option?
Sometimes I don't want to use a feature on purpose, like web filtering but I don't want to be constantly annoyed by the alers and the color change.
