Well after the upgrade it was up and running, but it didn't detect some phishing pages, then i was watching Bitdefender support on facebook and someone had problems with BDfree and the answer was not compatible with W10
and they suggest to install antivirus 2015, IS or Total security.
Detection is not so good anymore, not optimized for W10.....
    for now back to Panda

Ok, I understand. Thanks for clarifying that. So it runs, but is not 100% functional due to the incompatibility.

I like free products but not when it's a real-time security product from 2 years ago. I tried it on Win10 a couple of weeks ago and it appeared to be compatible but it had a lousy detection rate (like, worse than Windows Defender).

After the KB3074678 & 83 update reboot, MBAE init failure no longer exists.

Now test it by scanning malware with it; it didn't work when I did (about a month or so ago).

Bitdefender staff also say its NOT compatible with windows 10, i have tested also with Win10, it has much lower detection rate and the webscanning (blocking phishing sites) isn't working ! So Shiri if you want to continue go ahead, you are not protected as it should be!

    Sorry, if I missed it...

What are the bugs in BD-free?

I have it installed on +50 machines and got no negative feedback...

Same here. I believe they are referring more to compatibility issues between BD Free and Windows 10, which in that case it is buggy and quite unreliable. But Windows 7/8.x machines should be fine.

There was (and still is as far as I know) a long standing bug/issue with the BD Free tray icon disappearing, making it impossible to access quarantined items and so on. I ran BD Free several times for varying periods of time, and eventually the missing icon would occur at some point, even when it seemed ok at first. Many people experienced this and a few other issues. If you go back and read thru this thread, you'll find most of what bothered people, and a complete lack of support and fixes from the BD people. That's why most people ended up dumping it. You'll have to go back a year or two to really see everything.... I think there are still several things that have never been fixed, and that only affect some people, not everyone.

    THX for your answer.

    I don't care about WIN10.
I don't recommend to install it, not at the current state, and most likely not at all.
Maybe WIN11, if it ever will be released, has a integer UI. WIN10 has not.

One thing is good about WIN10:
It gives me lots of work to repair, or restore to previous version...

    @Kerdeo:
Disapering icons in systemtray are often caused by Nvidia graphics driver.
    Not only Bitdefender is affected.
I will not go back a year, or two, to search for issues.
Bitdefender hasn't changed version very often, but did, without notice.

    Also:
I'm not interested in geeks AV, just in a "No worry free AV, for average Joe, and Max Mustermann"

No problem, I don't use it so I don't care one way or the other. You asked the question, I gave the answer. There are historical posts that outline all the issues that never got fixed, and finally people gave up on BD.

Btw, I don't have Nvidia graphics either.... so your idea there holds no water..

PS: I just remembered what it was, it was the Logs button that never worked half the time, thus the quarantined items weren't accessible. It wasn't the icon. However, sometimes the GUI would crash and the icon would disappear also, and you couldn't get the GUI by running it from the menu either. But anyhow, it was the ridiculous malfunctioning Logs Button that everybody got sick of. BD people never fixed that, and several other things that I can't remember because they never affected me.

Anyhow, there ya go, for what it's worth department...

Bitdefender support claims that after installing BD FREE onto windows 10, that after 3 hours an update patch will appear in Notifications and to install it to make it compatible. They claim that W10 hasn't come up with the patch...thus the 3 hr. delay. I may have misunderstood their message, but it sounds like crap to me.o_O Frankly, I will believe you good people here before BD Support.:shifty::)

You have misunderstood what they have said. That is about the paid version of bitdefender 2015 products.
