Yes, saw the flash interface ... green colour ... nice.

I got Max setting on default i.e. all button checked to protect or deny.

But if you use the Password protection ... you can't change anything until you key in your password.

As for disabling the AV ... when I reboot from cold it's fine everything works fine. But just now I was just doing Restart and I noticed the problem.

    :)

P/s: Just checked the log and it said Bufferoverflow ...

Yes, just double checked the Event Log and it said BufferOverload Alert.

    So I guess that's it really ...

I will reboot later to find out if this happens again.

    :)

P/s: Just reboot PC from cold ... no problem whatsoever. AV enable straight away. No delay etc., Good.

I guess it's Restart causing a minor problem.

If you cannot connect to prevx don't worry

I am hearing lots of reports of being unable to download it, It looks like their servers are swamped and it will probably take few days to sort out

I get timeouts whenever we try to get to their home page

I assume it's just the sheer volume of people trying to download

I see in their FAQ they recommend For maximum system security, every machine that connects to a network should be at the highest level of security patching, run a personal firewall to restrict the number of routes by which attacks can reach the machine and use up to date Anti Virus signatures to filter malicious file attachments to email .
This approach without a real time monitor is interesting. One can stll do a on demand scan and also scan any downloads . quite efficient . I like the simple but effect way that this takes care of security issues . They being a tried and tested security co I feel comfortable using Prevx.

Hi dvk01, I can get to the registration form but after I fill it out, and check the two boxes, the Continue button is greyed out and I "go nowhere". So I'm just curious about how the download is supposed to work, is there maybe something about it that one of my installed security apps thinks is hostile and won't let me continue, or is it just that Prevx doesn't activate it due to overloaded servers?

I've tried both with Firefox and then IE 6, same results.

I don't think it's your security app that has prevented the download.

I think there are just too many people downloading it that Prevx server might not be able to handle it.

When I filled in the form and performed the download, I got all my sucurity apps to full. The only thing that I switched off was M$ Office App - Word ... then I just installed it. No problem whatsoever. It just installed.

So give it a while because many people are just downloading it I guess.

    :D

Hi Chew, well I don't know if it was just luck with the timing or because I tried setting up Prevx as a Trusted site, but I'm downloading now, I've also turned AdSub and reset Spyware Guard to check for evil downloads... go figure.

But thanks for your response, much appreciated,
    Jim

I got SpyBlaster & SpywareGuard and many few more Anti-softwares on ... when I was downloading and installing it. Everything went smoothly.

Oh ya ... I use Firefox btw.

You need to check the "I have read and accept PREVX's Terms & Conditions" checkbox aswell which will then enable the continue button on the website.

How does it compare to Worm Guard? Which offer the same function.

I currently have Ad Aware Professional Edition installed and it has a Adware monitor. How does that compare too? Which according to the discription offer similar function.

    Isn't this a firewall feature?

Anyone can post more info on that?

This product to me seems to cover a bit from everything.......Just wanted to know how does it compare to TDS+WG+PG+Adware......

Well then Cochise, do you know where I can get some of those old 3-d glasses?
The color choices they made for their gui are almost impossible for me to read.

I did give it a whirl and may use it if I can find the gui!! :D :D

Does one receive any alerts or warnings when installing new programs with Prevx in the background?

Prevx always alert me that MRU Blaster is poking it's nose around in the Registry when I do a cold start.

So I just click to Allow (Prevx will ask twice in succession) and that's it.

I am not sure about installation of new programmes so far as I have not done any recently.

If you are running windows XP, get SP2 instead of prevx. SP2 is IMHO, strong enough to secure your computer. I have many security software programs that can do the same things as prevx. Prevx ain't necessary so long as you have the correct security programs for your computer and keep your computer up-to-date.
