What would people like to be a "Guest"

I don't understand. Why don't they register and post?

P.S :LOL: i just saw how many post in here has been moved..................

 

There's a few possible explanations. My mostly likely guess is that they drop in for help with what they hope is a one-time problem, and don't want to go through the "bother" of registering under the circumstances. Heaven forbid they should lose time that could be spent on online gaming, right?

And of course many times we've seen a regular member forget to log in, so for that particular visit they're showing as simply a guest.

Paul and crew are pretty liberal, actually -- I belong to a number of groups where guests can read just about anything in the forums, but must be registered to post anything.

This way the fresh ideas of others can come freely, without fear of imposition. Besides, I've read forums I'd rather not register with. There is a fine standard of decency on the pages here at Wilders, one I have yet to notice elsewhere.

Actually,in my case,I have registered three times.There's nothing I would like better than to be a regular member.However,whenever I logged in I was always logged out immediately.
I simply gave up trying after a while and figured who cares?It's not like anyone on the Net likes getting to know people nor pays any attention to who posts regularly with a permanent moniker.

I don't mean that nastilly-what I am trying to say is,does it make any difference whether a person posts as a guest or a member?Often their problem is specific and applicable to themselves only.

Then of course,there is a far more simplistic possibility.Anonimity.
Personally,I have been in difficulties I should have been capable of resolving by myself.I was too embarrassed to confess in public that for example,I had no idea where to begin in configuring IP tables.

You see-it's a simple fear of being called "dense".

I'm in that boat you speak of, and am sometimes embarressed to post (feeling I can address the issue myself). Though,
if I had a really bad problem, I'd post. I'm not ashamed of being a greenhorn, you gotta start somewhere.

Concerning your log-in/log-out problem, as ronjor stated, I'm sure this can be straightened out. It's a good crew here .

I am member of several myself and I agree. Decency and standards are very good here.

 

Just to clarify the quotes here -- everyone seems to be picking up the "By Mike" part of GF's first reply when quoting him, but the words quoted are strictly his. I certainly don't argue with them, but I can't take credit for them.

I registered the other day, but today when I tried to log on, they said I had an invalid password. I am now waiting for them to send me my password. I have a question for someone to answer, if they can. Does Spyblaster have a patch or an upgrade in the near future to allow Spyblaster to check Netscape 7.2 for spyware?

Got a question:

Why on earth should it bother anyone if a person wants to post as a guest.....its no ones business why a person chooses to do so.

I arrived at this site years ago when there was less than three hundred members.....an have posted tens of thousands of times AS A GUEST!!......yes I am a registered member.......do I feel a need to explain that to anyone....absolutely not......nor would I dare insult or offend an innocent person simply because they choose to post as a guest.....at a privacy forum..........
