Beta 4.19.1 has been released. This version is special to me. Since 4.17.6, running Excel as a Forced program was not working. This version fixes that issue.

4.19.1 is special for me. 4.17.5 broke my clipboard.

I had CryptoPrevent installed and it prevented SBIE from updating. SBIE puts the install exe in C://appdata which is protected by CP. To circumvent that I downloaded V4.18 , however it too would not install. On the Foolish IT forum someone else reported the same problem. It appears unsolved. CryptoPrevent has created a group policy against C:\\\\appdata\\sbie.exec thus preventing it from installing. I whitelisted the SBIE exec in CryptoPrevent but that did not solve it. The install is blocked. I chose to set CryptoPrevent to default, but that did not help either, so I chose to uninstall CrytoPrevent using their uninstaller. It uninstalled the app. but did not remove the group policies. They are still there. When I click on the SBIE install, I get a message that it is being blocked by a group policy. The Foolish IT forum recommends: if the registry 'path' has items under CryptoPrevent, then the policies were not deleted when the app was deleted and that is what has happened to me. They suggest it is best to delete all the subtasks in the directory. I tried to delete one task and that was denied ... I tried to delete 'paths' and that was denied. I have no idea what to to next. Any help would be appreciated.

Why not ditch cryptoprevent. After all if you are using SBIE, you can protect data folders and then you don't need cryptoprevent

Have a look here for maybe possible help.

NOTE: Maybe its not said enough , but its good policy. Always have a reliable image backup before
installing apps or making changes so when unexpected problems happen you can restore the system.

Tnx Bo. I posted the problem on the Foolish IT forum. After having spent a lot of time on this, I am certain that the problem in not Sandboxie, it is CryptoPrevent. If their whitelist option worked, SBIE should have installed, so the ball is in their court. Their supplied uninstaller just compounded the problem.

Absolutely fantastic. PCHunter got rid of the group policies without any fuss. The info was certainly worth the read.

Sandboxie installed without any drama immediately after the the subkeys were deleted. YOU ARE MY HERO of the day.

That's a warning telling you basically it would be a bad idea to force explorer.exe using Sandboxie.
You can sandbox explorer.exe, but wouldn't recommend forcing it as you may very well run into some
issues that may be somewhat difficult to correct. Check Sandboxie forum also.

My humble apologies since this has probably (I'm rather sure, exact precedent post numbers be damned) been posted before. Can anyone say for sure that Sandboxie will be compatible with W10 by roll out date? Excusez-moi for the unintended redundancy.

    @bjm_ Much obliged!! ;)

Stoked about jumping the gun and setting up the reserve option on day 1 for W10 yet gun shy about that one stray app (spyshelter firewall, shadow defendow..) that wasn't quite on board and bricks the system big time.

Maybe I should be posting this in the SBIE forum:
I am new to Sandboxie and am trying beta 4.19.3 on my Win 8.1 laptop. Nearly every time I start Firefox (latest stable version) sandboxed it crashes, even after deleting contents and terminating programs first. Restarting the browser usually works however. I normally don't get a message when it crashes, but on a few occasions I have got 'SBIE2224 Sandboxed program has crashed: plugin-container.exe'. I have tried disabling Flash protected mode in about:config but the issue remains.
I also use HitmanPro.Alert (see signature for Win 8.1 machine security software) which protects plugin-container but HMPA is marked as compatible under 'Software Compatibility', so presumably that is not a problem, but maybe I do need to disable some mitigations in HMPA? In AppGuard I have c:\sandbox as a read/write exception under Guarded Apps and included under User Space (no issues in report).
Any ideas? Could it be an add-on? @Peter2150 I know you use the same security software, but maybe not Firefox ...
Oddly, also it is as if SBIE seems to periodically reinstall itself (desktop and quick launch icons reappear)?

    Hi Paul

As I type I am in Firefox 38.05 Sandboxed with SBIE 4.19.3 and no crashing. Biggest difference is I am running win 7 x64. I will test in my 8.1 image in a bit.

    Pete

Restored my Win 8.1 Pro X64 image. With all the same security software and FF38.05 I am now in the configuration with no issues.

So at this point, I am not sure what you are dealing with

Hope I can isolate the cause. The pattern seems to be crashes on launch; delete contents, launch again and it works fine.

I had this same sort of problem with a new Dell desktop. Firefox was bad but IE was much worse. I think it has something to do with the OEM build of windows 8.1 and Sandboxie. I finally gave up and installed Windows 7.

What is crashing. Occasionally, I'll have Firefox sandbox false start. Where sandboxie message dialog appears. And I know after delete. Next Firefox sandbox will be okay.

I have recently gone back to Sandboxie and I currently have a problem with Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013...

Is it possible to sandbox these office programs like Outlook? I read that there is a problem with "click to run".

The office programs fail to start if they are enforced to run sandboxed.

Is Office 2013 even compatible with Sandboxie??o_O
