For the people who feel the same, there's always Hide Folders, they offer a lifetime license if I'm correct. And they also have been around for years, I think at least since 2005.

Thx for this. Gonna check it out. Looks similar as Secure Folders...

    EDIT:
Wait a second, is this thing free or not? It says 30 days left. Ugh?!

Like I said, it's a lifetime license. It doesn't have the anti-exe function though, but most of us don't need that function.

Norton ConnectSafe DNS seems to have securefoldersfree.com blocked.

It's a known (for several months) flag; i think it has even been briefly commented. Last time i checked (about 2 months ago), VT, Quttera, Zscaler and HerdProtect marked it as clean. Sucuri, on the other hand, flagged it as malicious because it was/is(?) blacklisted by Norton and Mcafee -latter's flag was a new addition at the time. IIRC, it had something to do with a video link. The installer itself is totally clean, though. Probably FP - better download it from (e.g.) Softpedia, for peace of mind.

BTW, the driver's name is randomly generated.

Yes, I confirm it is signed by that corp. and the driver's name is randomly generated as CGuard says. In my case it's named ctlmmc.sys v.1.0.0.0

No surprise. Norton needs the business not free quality competition from third parties :isay:

As I said in the post, the files don't exist on my PC either, and I believe it's probably either a false positive or a harmless function. By asking people to check I meant by enabling SF and doing an MBAM or MBAR scan to see if they get the similar results.

I don't use VT due to the horrific privacy policy and seeing as malware and virus scanners have been useless for several years (I use Avast purely for hardened mode, and MBAM/MBAR* as my main scanners for when distributing files for others to download).

I haven't had time to do another run through but what Kees points out is what I experienced with Secure Folders in ShadowMode with SD. No biggie on my end since SD p00fs! the session anyway after either reboot or even after a hard shutdown FWIW

Since I just looked and they no longer have the website, I wonder if there is even a home to phone. It does give me pause

Keep in mind that it doesn't have to be the website that is being called to.

    Thanks, forgot about that post.

    Hi RejZor

Your main download link doesn't work. Good effort because it is a great little app.

I asked Andreas (@novirusthanks ) to do something similar weeks ago, he answered it was possible to do and he'll look in a few but so far nothing has come out.
Perhaps he's pretty busy with SOB lol

You're site looks interesting. BTW, I decided not to install SF, because SpyShelter already offers folder protection.

Nice site, bookmarked... After seeing your example, I wish there was a way to create rulesets, so trusted apps cannot jump into other protection rules.

I haven't used SS in a while, can you see if it allows a list of trusted apps for the folder restriction list? If I remember correctly, I think it was a system-wide block.

Yeah, separate rules and whitelisted apps so they don't conflict each other was planned for next program release. Which apparently won't ever happen :(
