i don't use outlook, but out of curiosity, if you leave chrome in the system but changed back your default browser, would that fix the problem or does it still need fixing?
Did you guys read about this? AV's are really starting to become a risk, simply unacceptable. I've just read it only affected users of Avast Endpoint Protection Suite. Apps like Google Chrome, Firefox, iTunes, Adobe Flash Player and Microsoft Office were considered to be malware, causing major problems for business users. https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=170705.0
It's not just starting to become a risk, the risk of false positives has always been there. Avast is not the only one.
The problem starts when you uninstall Chrome, so if you leave Chrome in the system there would be no problem. I don't know if changing the default browser would then also let Outlook open links in the default browser.

Wow!! HIPS?? I thought that was a long shot in avast's case since they strictly follow a user-friendly based policy.
HIPS was noticed through translators few months ago. They get the first glimpse of unannounced features. Also, be aware that this isn't a dumb HIPS, it's a lot smarter than that.

CCleaner and Wise Registry Cleaner are cool. Been using them for years and for a change never had problems.
Back in the old days, this was already used but since they hardly had any cloud infrastructure, it was pretty bad. Now they can use extensive whitelisting from their cloud (otherwise used in Hardened Mode - Aggresive) and apply it to this HIPS system. Not much is known, but this would make tons of sense.
And I think its better its more like BB than HIPS. Avast was always more geared towards average users, easy & good protection. And I think it will remain so & thats good. And offcoz expert users can always tinker with the vast settings.
My years with Avast is over... Simply because built-in Windows 10 security is more than adequate after a bit of tweaking, plus I have MBAM Premium and HMP.A
I think they can in a way utilize info gathered by avast! DeepScreen to fuel the Behavior blocker (HIPS) part. They have this data now in large quantities.
I had browsing probs in Chrome with Nod32 installed. Posted on their forum too but the prob was not solved. After couple tries uninstalled it.
I have been running Avast for going on 2 years. Excellent! I run Avast on-demand during daytime, & run it real-time during the night while I sleep (my computer is on 24/day). Switching Avast back & forth between on-demand (shields off) & real-time (shields on) is very easily done. @ BD free lovers -- Can BD be easily switched between on-demand & real-time?
