I just had one of those "experiences" trying to order here...they cancelled it..and I have purchased many products from them. I will wait a while and try again...in the past they have been just fine.

What a scam. After wasting over half an hour of my life and filling in all my personal details, and finding out that this 'special offer' is only open to people who accept their newsletter (so you will be spammed with it whether you sign up for it or not), they then tell me that the item is out of stock and also it is not delivered to the UK, after saying it was a download only.

They got me good, I'll give them that.

Anyone else been had with this? I don't really care about getting the product, it's for friends and family, but I do resent being misled and being taken for a ride, apart from them already starting to spam my email! Sneaky low lifes.

Shouldn't you remove this offer from this page as well, after all, the item is out of stock and isn't download at all, requiring a real delivery? I'll make a point of never using this company ever again. I used two different browsers after trying twice to do this. They want your real address, your real phone number. Others be warned!

@Emetic are you saying it's Newegg or Webroot as I can't tell as it's only for the residents of the US?

    TIA,

    Daniel ;)

Maybe that's it. Emetic is in the UK. I tried it on my Newegg account (US) and it's a download alright. Regular price $19.99 add the code -$13.50 = $6.49 in stock. :)

Yes, it's newegg I'm angry at. They could have said it wasn't available, and not wasting over half an hour of my time then hitting me with spam mail. That's right, I'm in the UK, but they know that, I'm not hiding behind a proxy. It's a very convenient little scam that can be plausibly denied and they get some of that new gold - marketing information.

They also say that there is an unsubscribe button on all their correspondence. That is not true. There was not one on mine. I have written them a stinking letter telling them what I think of them and telling them to take me off their database.

Ah, I bet now the spam really starts. Such sharp practice. Let's see how much more they spam me and how many more mails I have to write for them to leave me alone. I wouldn't trust a company like that to not sell my information, they wouldn't be the first who said they don't, but do.

No, webroot are great. I have a good source for getting licenses fairly cheap, more than affordable. I'm going to be buying a few over the next few days, just rounding up all friends and family that want it renewed, or just letting them know the time is up.

I will never ever use newegg for anything again. They are on my blacklist. Very shoddy behaviour. No excuses.

And just to be clear, I used two browsers. On both occasions I changed the flag to the UK one, all well and good. Still available, great.

Then after all that messing about - their ecommerce page is a mess and doesn't work properly, I get to choose paypal as a payment option coz it is easier, and then after messing with that, it turns out that you then have to give them all your information - name address phone no. etc which defeats the whole point of using paypal. I actually have a bit of a phobia against things like this. I work on computers so much day in day out for fun, for work for shopping, that this kind of thing drives me up the wall, so I won't buy something if I have to fill out all those details.

Very clever and very sneaky telling you ten minutes into the ordeal that you then HAVE to give them all your details coz that is just how we do business and by the way, you will recieve our newsletter even if you decline because it is tied to the offer. Then after all that, sorry, no, we were just winding you up, leading you down the garden path to extract valuable consumer information from you for our databases. Sucker! They already have a wealth of information on me shopping for parts for computer systems I build. They can cross collateralize that till the cows come home. They now have my home address, and also my paypal account and emails. Nice.

But oh sorry, little innocent old me made a mistake, twice, this item is out of stock. They are trading on the good name of Webroot to leverage their own market research. This is the 21st century, and we have cgi and server side scripting and wonderful languages like perl and php and sql, and people that can use them. Isn't it funny how they are always incompetent when it comes to gaining an advantage, but never so incompetent they will ever lose any money.

I don't like being taken for a mug. No excuse. Two browsers. Twice changed the flag to UK. They still led me down the garden path. Then laughed in my face at the end. I don't care about getting the product, like I said, I can pick it up for a very good price already. But I was in the middle of building a new computer today and could have done without this distraction.

It's just all so plausible. Tempt people in with a really silly price (I was going to be allowed to buy 5 licenses for 3pc a piece), give it some whose info you already have (Americans) then harvest marketing info for a new market you haven't cornered yet (the UK). Such plausible deniability that will turn out to be a 'glitch' on their servers, but the data will still be theirs now. Ah well, no need to get upset about it, I'm off to play about with Voodoo Shield.

    cheers.

Emetic, if you go to My Account > Newegg Notifications, you will find how to manage all preferences via Unsubscribe radio buttons. I only subscribe to their Newsletter, and that's all I receive. Just FYI.

I just got a good deal for a five license seat off eBay for WSA. I've used them before and have had no problems at all.

I got upset with this one coz I was actually going to buy the licenses and give them away to several people as part of another package.

So I was ready to buy the full 5 3 seat bundles from them.

Hopefully people can see why I got frustrated with all of this.
