    Hi Experts,

I need your urgent help with system recovery. Due to a sudden motherboard failure, I had to migrate my hard drive from one laptop to another. The HD had a dual boot setup, Win 8.1 & Win 7 Pro. Win 8.1 seems to have the ability to adapt itself to the new machine and works well there, but Win 7 got lost, startup recovery procedures did not help a little. Then I searched and read forum posts to learn of Paragon P2P Adaptive Recovery, hoping it would save my time to get Win 7 re-established straightforward. Unfortunately, Paragon P2P Adjust OS from Paragon Recovery CD could not proceed at all, as the lost Win 7 was not displayed in the list of systems to be recovered, only the Win 8.1 is available but it does not need any adjustment. The disk management does display Win 7 as a Windows installation, and the relevant partition is active too. Could anybody offer some ideas please?

    Thanks.

Did you try the paragon Linux boot media? It might be worth a go if you only tried the winpe recovery media so far. If you don't have the linox recovery media, it comes with the free Rescue kit 14.

Otherwise, you may be able to recover win7 manually, though it is a bit fiddly.

If 7 will boot into Safe Mode, you might try to do basically the same thing, uninstalling existing critical drivers in Device Mgr., in the hope that Windows on boot will find the right ones. If setup will see the 7 install, you might try a repair re-install of 7. AOMEI also has migration software, though I've never used it so can't comment.

Note that even though 8.1 runs, it still would probably be a good idea to go into Device Mgr. & try updating drivers. The wrong drivers can often work, but not optimally.
