I have made several requests in Avira beta center and forums to bring an option to turn off tracking functionality completely, but Avira never listened. I found a way anyways to disable it completely.

    Go to this folder
    C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<ProfileID>\extensions\abs@avira.com\dnt-api
and then open this file api-rules.json and delete all its contents. The file should be empty and save it(Do not delete the file).

Thats it. No more tracker blocking in any websites.

    Hi KaptainBug,
Thank you for your feedback, did exactly what you say and yes indeed no more trackers ! :) Like this _ its just fine now.
My wife was also complaining about this ABS that it blocked way to many stuff on websites, if the url is not malicious so why block stuff on these websites ...
I hope Avira will think about that again, because too many people will stop using this ABS if its block too much stuff.

so i went to the avira website and see something imo that is a bad move. they changed the way they sell it from being based on "users" to devices. now if all my lic's were bought based on 3 or 5 USERS (which were from what i was told supposed to cover 5 devices per user) have they now been changed to only 3 devices in total?? if so that is a huge mistake. im really hoping my lic's i bought recently are still user based and not just device based. because the lic for 3 devices costs more now than when i bought them for 3 USERS and cust support told me that meant 3 or 5 devices PER usero_O can someone clarify this for me. the reason i ask is i went to try to buy another key for a freind and see it set up like this now.

    what my lics say :

    Payment information
We have received your PayPal payment.
    Your products
    Qty. Product name Delivery
    1
    Avira Antivirus Pro
    36 months - 3 users <<<< notice 3 users not devices.
    electronic delivery

also how do i use a new pro lic to add an android device? i was told before buying these it was for "devices" not just pc's but i see no way to enter the key into the android device. and its not letting me use the pro key to add it in the my avira panel? imo you guys really should have a place to enter a lic key into the android app same as on the pc. i really hate that i have to send it to the device to add it. all my other av's i use on android i can simply enter the lic key and or user name / password

Nothing in the about section? Also I though one key was able to be used multiple times on all owned devices

    That's weird.
Try to contact the support then (with the license number, they will find the corresponding 25 digits key).

I'm more than satisfied with the way Avira performs and protects, and don't intend changing for some foreseeable future, unless than is they close down, or the protection drops so drastically . However, why the renewal green button, when there's still over 3 years til expiry ? o_O

ProActive is just one approach for doing behavior based detection (sometimes also called HIPS). The specific technology used for ProActive is available only on 32bit Windows. The same applies to others who are using the very same technology.

Of course there are more ways to do behavior based detection, and some of them work also on 64bit. Avira has added alternative means of detection over the recent years on 64bit as well, and the great detection results also confirmed by independent reviews show that they are working very well. :thumb:

    Hi,

    Thank you for your answer!

Proactive has been implemented many years ago and meanwhile most of the PC's are on 64bit; I do not understand why has not been abandoned if is not possible to use it on 64 bit.....

The latest AV Comparatives / Heuristic & Behavior Test is from 2013 (I bet Proactive is unchanged since then) and the result is not so good: 84%

Protection does not depend on one single component but the magic is to cleverly combine several methods of detection that complement each other so that the user is well protected.
Consequently, most of today's "real world tests" just expose a computer to a threat and then evaluate if the threat was blocked, no matter which module did it.

On 32bit, ProActive is still adding value to the protection so there is no reason to remove it. In the future this might change, though, since we continually evolve our technology.

I do not want to start throwing test results around but just to give one example you could look at the recent AV-Test results, where Avira achieved between 98% and 100% against 0-day attacks.
So I think it is justified to say that it is working very well :thumb:

Well I think anon is right! I strongly recommend to get in touch with our support team. They will find a way out of this struggle.

I'm using AVIRA Free for few days and I quite like it actually. It's not bitching with ads or popups, has no noticeable drag on my system, updating works in 2 hour intervals which is nice.

Only things that bother me are:
    - you can't disable tracker blocking globally (I'm already using Ghostery) and have browser extension just to block malware URL's
    - you can't turn off that annoying quick scan after malware detection
    - you actually have to click "Remove malware" when detection coems up, otherwise the file stays blocked and where it was detected. I find this a really silly behavior not found in any other AV...

Other than that, AVIRA really turned into a nice AV considering what a mess it was some years ago...

Without fiddling with the extension other than flipping a switch in it...

After Avira updated itself at the new version this morning, when i try to open the UI,either by double'clicking the tray icon or or from tray icon's right'click menu "Start Avira Free Antivirus",this warning cames out every time...i have installed Rocket Dock and it works flawless as you can see in the second image...i just don't get it what the deal with Avira and Rocket Dock...
