I was searching Bitdefender's forum for posts on CryptoWall and other ransome wall and did not find much. I expect many users of almost all anti-malware programs are experiencing problems with this so the lack of posts is puzzling. This either indicates their program is effective in blciking this infectiobn, or they are blocking posts or questions about it so some reason. Does anyone know?

At this moment all good antiviruses offer decent protection for this type of threat.

If you go to the link below at Bleeping Computers, or others some people say they had a good, up to date anti-vrrus but got CryptoWall anyway.

I think anti-malware companies try to up date their definitions/etc. as quickly and as well as they can. but there are always 0 day attacks. sometimes my bitdefender glitches and does not update n a daily basis. I gotta think this happens to others who may have become infected, but they never post.

That thread is from a year ago, I said 'at this moment'. I also said 'decent' protection, not stellar or very good. Of course, relying on definitions is useless. I expect that my antivirus recognizes the behaviour of this type of malware.

Yes, that thread was started a year ago. It is now 86 pages long. there are current posts in it and in other threads at that website, plus on other websites, all except Bitdefender's
