Hitman Pro Support and Discussion Thread

NirSoft utilities are handy tools but are often used by attackers to recover/steal usernames & passwords from victims; Windows accounts, web browsers, e-mail applications, Wi-Fi networks, etc.
You can ignore the detection (use Report as safe from within HitmanPro) if you want to keep the utilities. This will instruct HitmanPro to ignore the files.

 

I've had similar experience with earlier versions when I was using Direct Disk Access mode (even had some BSODs). After switching to Compatible Disk Access those problems were gone.

 

Thanks Mark. Are the portable versions of these utilities also vulnerable?

 

If I'm not mistaken - I think that Mark didn't mean to say that Nirsoft Utilities are vulnerable, but that detecting NirSoft utilities on a computer could be an indication of activities by attackers using NirSoft utilities. HitmanPro can't determine if it was put there by you or by bad guys.
That's somewhat similar to the case in which you disable the "My Computer" shortcut in Windows Start Menu, which is then detected by Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as a Potentially Unwanted Modification, because MBAM can't determine whether the user disabled that shortcut, or if it was hidden by malware in an attempt to make it harder to access the file system.

Okay....this #6522 241 Beta was posted today. I just updated 240 Home to 241. So, is there still a 241 Beta.

The program is automaticly updated to build 241.
Seems it was a very short beta period?

There was no formal announcement of 241 going from beta to general availability and auto update.

 

Runs fine on vista 32 bit and windows 7 64 bit

 

There was only a minor change from 240 -> 241. So we decided to release 241 as general availability.

Stuck on the cause: see attachment. If "Scan for Malware Remnants" option ON (pipe, It is checked), then the HitmanPro is stuck.

FreeMem.exe is false alarm. Virustotal 0/57: ~ Removed VirusTotal Results as per Policy ~

 

Its a suspicious classification, not a malware classification.

 

Where to download HitmanPro 3.7.9 Build 241 without Kickstart ??

 

To my knowledge, there's no HitmanPro without the Kickstart component.
But why would you want HitmanPro without the Kickstart component?
You can use HitmanPro without using the Kickstart component.

Erik, can you please look at this pic whether these are FP or PUPS? Please let me know if I can safely remove them or not. They did show up doing a default scan. (I had HMP set as ignore for now). Thank you.

Is there any solution to my question?

Hitman Pro scans do not complete and get stuck at Classifying 99%. I am running Windows 7 64bit with version 3.7.9 Build 241 64bit. More than 15 minutes. It used to be max 1.5 minutes.
