I went ahead and bought a license for Uninstall-Tool from Crystalidea. http://www.crystalidea.com/uninstall-tool I tested it quite a bit last night in a VM with junk installed programs, it does very well! It clearly picks up things my trusted Advanced Uninstaller Pro misses. Also I like the fact that the license for the portable version is essentially 'unlimited', and can actually be used for both the installed AND portable version without restrictions. I was going to wait for a sale - it runs 50% off on Black Friday sometimes, but after testing and seeing how many traces Advanced Uninstaller was leaving behind compared to this, I don't think I should wait.
Salutations, Appreicate the input from everyone! Any of the above uninstallers that are native X64 bits? For example, crystalidea.com, do they have a X64 bit uninstaller? Moose's World
@Mayahana Uninstall Tool is an excellent uninstaller. For the moment, I'm sticking with IObit as Uninstall Tool does not have a batch uninstall feature like IObit (which comes in handy when you have 10 programs you want to uninstall). I just installed Uninstall Tool again, and its batch function is only for removing the uninstall entries of the selected software, it does not uninstall them or check for leftover traces.
I noticed this. I do not use batch uninstall as I like to closely manage each uninstall. However, this is an excellent program! Portable key is lifetime, unlimited devices AND works on portable or installed version - nice! This is a huge bonus, I do not - and often refuse to pay yearly upgrade fees, and I do not like restricted install limitations. I have no issues paying for software - and in fact prefer to pay, but I don't want to be saddled with limitations. Uninstall Tool seems really good about removing those limitations - encouraging purchase! So far so good. I think I finally found a replacement for Advanced Uninstaller Pro.
It has a ton of tools.. Most half-baked, I agree.. As a free, well functioning uninstaller - it worked for me for almost 6 years. Time to move on.. The current versions are ad-filled, OpenCandy loader, spyware junk I would never touch. RIP Advanced Uninstaller
I was using v11.21 it up until yesterday (dating back to around 2010ish). But I have a real problem using a 2 year old 'version locked' product, especially with Windows 10 impending release. Time to use something updated, and paid.
I should clarify, I have used Advanced UI for 5ish years. It was a great product, a paid product, poorly marketed. Then the developer started adding more and more bloat. Sometime I believe in 2013 he decided to stop charging for it, and promised it wouldn't change.. Within months he started adding useless junk, bundling 'offers', then added the dumb 'system checker', then OpenCandy. Finally making the interface serve advertisements, and channel data mining telemetry. So I stayed on 11.21 or 11.23, the last versions before a lot of bloat.. Still bloat, but still the newest one before the tragedy. I never found anything that worked as well, with a good licensing scheme. Until some amazing person posted Crystalideal Uninstall Tool here.. 2 days of testing, and a GREAT licensing scheme were enough to convince me I was done with Advanced. It's sad when a product gets totally destroyed by greed.
I've requested a refund for Uninstall Tool - after further testing, it's proven to not be effective. We've played with it in the lab today under monitoring conditions, and found it less than stellar, often leaving excessive residual files. I've actually come to enjoy IoBIT's uninstaller, Roger is on to something. I used IoBIT to batch uninstall 18 'crap' applications on a clients system today, and it performed very well. Looks like I will be sticking with Advanced Uninstaller Pro 11.23, and possibly IoBIT after further testing.
@Mayahana It works very well for a free uninstaller. The scan for leftovers has improved noticably in the last 12 months or so. There used to be quite a gap between this and Revo. But there's not that much a difference anymore. While I think some of IObit's products are unremarkable, e.g. Advanced SystemCare and Smart Defrag, or downright terrible, i.e. Malware Fighter, IObit Uninstaller and Driver Booster are two excellent programs in my opinion, which keep getting better with new releases.
New version of IObit uninstaller 4.3.0.118 has been released. A direct download http://update.iobit.com/dl/iobituninstaller.exe Don't forget to uncheck Advance system care installation on the first installation screen. Change log: + Supported directly Forced Uninstall by dragging program file or shortcut to the desktop icon of IObit Uninstaller. + Strengthened File Shredder to shred 5000 files at a time. + Enhanced Powerful Scan feature to remove residuals more thoroughly. + Optimized the naming of restore points to be clear and explicit. + Fixed reported bugs.
Salutations, Purchase the portable version! All I have to say is nice! I also use RegSeeker to remove registry leftovers below: http://www.crystalidea.com/uninstall-tool http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/Other-Portable-Applications/RegSeeker-Portable.shtml Moose's World
I get a pop-up every time when I start Geek Uninstaller, with a notification that a new version is available. I don't get it, how can this be possible when I didn't gave it network access?
Not for this version yet, as the portable versions come from PortableApps.com, and not IObit. The portable version of the previous release is avilable here, and I presume they will update it soon to the current version.
Yes it certainly is, and now that they're only using their own definitions the detection of rate of thier antimwlare product Malware Fighter is terrible. But, despite their past history, IObit Uninstaller and Driver Booster are both truly excellent products.
