I thought he should have just kept it contained to chrome only, much like Umatrix. If it were a business I could understand trying to please all those variants for different browsers, but since it was free I would have been fine with it only working for chrome side by side umatrix. If you wanted to use the extension then use chrome, if not oh well, it's not like he was going to lose money. If it were simplified to a single browser and with the help of those here on the boards who love it, I think the headaches might have been less, but a man can only take so much, especially if he's getting nothing in return.

It was his own choice not get anything in return and to keep replying to everyone. People were ready to throw money at him, and other people could have answered the issues that annoyed him, but he refused to accept any kind of donations and kept reading every post, which affected his feelings.

True, I wish he would have accepted donations. Maybe he got a gig in the programming world once someone noticed his talents and he can no longer work on it, I don't know, but I always respected the donations routes, as I never felt it was "advertising" or begging in any form.

Thank you for your "State of Art" uBlock addon project but sincerely I don't understand the cryptic explanation of your decision, you are a coder not a politician.

Let me get this straight, he decided to drop his project because some whiny trolls complained for 3rd party lists issues? yup, that makes absolute sense!

Raymond, quite frankly, I had seen this coming. Some of your recent reactions and remarks suggested that the project was a heavy burden for you. Thus, I wasn't too surprised and can understand your step. Health is more important than everything else. And of course, you don't owe anything to anybody. Nevertheless, I was speechless for two reasons:
    1. Your decision came rather abrupt and was hidden in one or two comments for a specific commit. A short announcement or forewarning for your many followers/supporters/users would have been ... well ... a nice gesture. But that's okay for me as it's your life, and, again, you don't owe anything to anybody.
    2. The second reason was the uncertainty following your comments. It seems that you are planning to work on your own uBlock version which you want to keep in the Chrome store. So there will be two competing Chrome versions. This alone is a bit confusing for the users. And I wonder how much you will really gain (in terms of easing the burden) if you continue to maintain an own version. Yes, you won't have to care about the Firefox and Safari versions anymore - but wouldn't it have been possible to reorganize the project so that Chris and deathamns would have been solely responsible for those versions? And in retrospective it would have been necessery to consequently reject all filterlist related issues which were not uBlock specific, IMO.

These are just some thoughts which are coming up too late. :(

Whatever, I wish you all the best. I sincerely hope that we'll continue to read you here on Wilders :thumb:

BTW: What will happen to uMatrix? Will you continue developing it?

Absolutely agree. All the best to gorhill. And THX for all the great work!
Your decision: Absolutely consequent, and more it is your's. So nobody has the right to comment much on it.

I do so hope too. That you Raymond will keep working on uMatrix, because it is quite a special, unique product in my opinion. Surpasses other blockers.
Adblockers come and go. I was against that development in uBlock, the advanced features. And sort of if I had any empath capability was anticipating something like this. It was a sort of real surprise when HTTPSB was divided into to extensions, that what became uMatrix was then developed, again, in an adblocker, to me.

I like uMatrix and hope you continue develop it for coming Chrome browser updates. and keeping it updated for them. There is not quite like it any by far.

I could use a little help understanding the significance of the pluses and minuses (++ + -- -) in the Dynamic Filtering GUI columns. Thanks.

    You're welcome.

If you check the websites of the developers, Chris Aljoudi and gorhill, who lists his as a a fork of Chris', they are both supporting Chromium, Firefox and Safari, so it stands to reason Firefox will be getting updates.
